Introduction
Lab two experiments are dealing with the water quality and contamination. The water quality of water refers to the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of water. Experiment one refers to the effects of groundwater contamination. There were a total of 8 beakers that were separated in to two groups. Group one had beakers one through four and the second was five through eight. 1-4: If chemicals are added to the tab water, then the consistency, color, and smell will change. 5-8: If the potty soil and cheese cloth are used as a filter, then the water level decrease and stay clean. The first was regular tap water with no color or smell. In beakers two through four there was chemicals added to change the water quality. The chemicals that were added were 10ml of oil, vinegar, and soap, which then change the color, consistency, and smell of the water. In beakers five through eight the contents of one through four were filtered using cheese cloth and 240ml of soil. In experiment two is the water treatment process. This process consist of purifying the water to remove all contaminates. If water is dirty, then it will have to be filter for purification. In the experiment the contaminated water was filtered using cheese cloth, alum, sand, activated charcoal, and gravel. The alum was added to the contaminated water for a period of fifteen minutes, then filter through the cheese cloth, sand charcoal, and gravel to treat the water. Once the water had been filter through the content then Drinking water quality was experiment three which was used to see if bottle water was is healthier than tap water. There was a total of three samples used tap, and two types of bottle water Dasani and Fiji. The three samples were then tested for ammonia, chloride, phosphate and iron.     In this lab we were asked to observe changes and colors when mixing two or three chemicals together. The actual experiment itself used twelve different pipits and three chemicals I selected from my house. To begin, I first gathered everything, including the 96 well plate, 24 well plate, goggles, and gloves along with the observations of chemical changes bag. I set it up all on the the kitchen table that had paper towels on it. Next, I made my data table so that I could record my reactions. Third, I sat all the pipets in the 24 well plate. At this point, I began the lab by following the instructions for each chemical. I had to drop two drops of the first chemical into one well, followed by two drops of the second chemical into the same well. In some instances the second chemical was only one drop and there was also one where we added a third chemical. Once this was done I placed the well plate over white paper and then over black paper and made an observation of what happened when it was over each piece of paper. For each reaction, I wrote down the chemicals used, the well plate number I used, changes I noticed immediately, and then what I noticed with the well plate over the white and black pieces of paper on my data table. After completing the list of chemicals used together, I took three cleaning products from my home and mixed the Bromthymol Blue with them. I used the same format two drops of cleaning products and two drops of Bromthymol Blue. I added them to the data table that I had already created.     In today’s world, one of the most basic problems facing our society is the absence of clean water that we use and drink in daily life. The importance of clean water is self-explanatory. In spite of the fact that 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water, there is only 2.53%of fresh water that we can actually use. For the only 2.53% of fresh water, some is not safe and clean to use and it is harmful to human body. Polluted water is a big risk to our health, which contains contaminants.
