Second Amendment Argumentative Essay
College students and others who visit college campuses should be able exercise their Second Amendment by being able to conceal carry on school property in order to protect themselves from danger. Many mass shootings, assaults, and rapes have occurred in the last few years on college campuses and in nearby communities. If people were allowed to protect themselves from attacks with a firearm, it would significantly reduce the number of attacks in "Gun-Free Zones", so the United States government should allow campus carry.
As American Citizens, we have the right to carry a firearm or firearms with us for protection. This is more commonly known as the Second Amendment. This has come into controversy over the past few years as more and more people want to remove guns from other citizens in order to "make themselves feel safer". This movement has started a mass debate

Does this only apply to adults who are out of college? No, it does not, or at least it should not. Everyone has the same rights. Students should not give up their rights in order to have a college education. In an article on Red State on September 11 of 2014 it writes, "Government officials have created illogical and arbitrary lines of demarcation where it is deemed perfectly acceptable for legal and responsible Americans to carry firearms but illegal for these same citizens to do so on many campuses"(Restoring). The government officials should not have taken away as much of their citizens’ rights as they have. The Second Amendment reads, "a well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"(Madison). This applies to every citizen in the United States. Not just those who are not in "Gun Free Zones". However, if a person were to carry on campuses they would have to be licensed and they should have to tell the school so they were aware of who has a

In my opinion, carrying a handgun into a college or university is not necessary for a student. Because college and university is not that kind of dangerous zone where need to arm weapon. College and university are supposed to be a place where student to study. That should be the only reason that student should worry about. However, with the “New Campus Carry Law” passed, student now need to aware of avoid some circumstance which could bring them to face the death line. This new law I could say is not fair to everyone. At first, its can’t be 100% student will carry gun into campus when people need to be at least 21 years old who obtained a concealed handgun license (CHL) to have a gun. So, all the freshmen who attended college or university…

The Second Amendment states the right to keep and bear arms, but as Dickerson mentions that it’s a policy of debate. According to the Second Amendment, it’s subject to reasonable restrictions. Such as, banning guns on campus ground. Moreover, studies have reflected that students against students are most commonly perpetrating violence on campus. According to the article “Gun safety, Texas-style” an editorial from the Los Angeles times, the article presents that in order to avoid campus tragedy or school shooting happens, the Texas government may establish a law that allow students to carry gun on campuses. As the campus shooting tragedy happened in the past, the law’s supporters think most of times the schools lack of ability to protect students. They believe the best defense way is the students have ability to fight back when students face to gunmen. The purpose of allowing students carry guns on campus is to prevent future recurrence of the campus tragedy. In my personal view, campus shooting tragedy is unfortunate for civil education and we oppose any violence on campus. Therefore, I definitely do not agree students should carry guns to school.…

The Second Amendment was drafted as a part of the Bill of Rights in 1789, and yet issues on its interpretation are still prevalent today. The amendment is so controversial that our jurisprudence related to the subject varies on all ends of the spectrum. We treat it as though all interpretations are ambiguous, even though simple reasoning proves otherwise. The Second Amendment in our Bill of Rights guarantees that “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”…

Guns provide many people the ability to feel safe and protected, while other guns are constant reminder that some freedoms are taken too far. Guns privileges are abused, misused, and mistreated. Young people glorify toting weapons like it’s a new fashion statement. Missing the fact, that what in reality is causing uproar and panic amongst everyone else. That is why I feel like guns should not be allowed on college campuses.…

Ever since school shootings on campuses many people have been skeptical about guns in the wrong hands of people. David Burnett writer of "Students Should Have the Right to Carry Guns on College Campuses.", agrees with the fact that students should be allowed to have guns on campus, for the use of self defense, for decreasing the crimes committed, and because colleges aren’t as safe as you think. Although Darby Dickerson writer of "Students Should Not Be Allowed to Carry Guns on College Campuses.", is on the other side arguing that concealed carry laws increased violence on college campuses, guns on campus lead to bad accidents and homicide, and that even though college kids are mature enough to have guns their brains are still…

Imagine a student or instructor being allowed to bring a gun to campus. Imagine what would happen if that student or instructor were having a bad day or had a major disagreement with someone. The possibility that something disastrous could happen is quite real. Measures should be enacted that address such a situation. By banning guns on campuses, tragedies can be prevented. The first reason why guns should be allowed on college campuses is people have the right to self-defense. Practically all debates on gun control anywhere, have at some point come around to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which reads, “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed (Bijlefeld 5). Experts believe that the right to arms can mean the right to self-defense and indeed, for many, the difference between life and death (Bijlefeld 74). Thirdly, concealed-carry prohibitions on university campuses only serve to exclude legal firearms carried by law-abiding adults who have no intention of committing a crime in the first place (Zalneraitis).…

To begin with, in the University of Texas at Austin there was a mass shooting that occurred on August 1, 1966, when a person named Charles Whitmen, fired and killed sixteen people. Fifty years later people interviewed students from The University of Texas at Austin to see whether they support the the campus carry law. After a tragic event happened in their campus they still continue to be against the bill. A student named Sarah Wang states, “I don’t think guns should be allowed, because that’s pretty scary” and “We’ve already seen so many instance where people get hurt because there are guns in school”. Lawmakers should not pass the bill because they cause an interference in their safety. Therefore, campus has a better opportunity of being a safer place without…

Through our second amendment right we have the right to own guns but we are not allowed to carry in every location to make yourself feel protected. Responsible citizens should be allowed to arm themselves against criminals in any location in which a threat may be evident. One group of people that has every right to feel especially intimidated is females, a young woman with her concealed carry gave her testimony about being raped walking back to her dorm at on a college campus because she was not allowed to carry a weapon with her has now made many states also consider allowing responsible civilians to protect themselves even on campus. A recent study shows that no matter if the victim is male or female if a gun is pulled out 55.5 percent of all attackers would retreat. Students are also law abiding citizens so they should also be given the right to carry legal weapons on their person. A common argument made against allowing weapons on a college campus is that there is too much stress among students and allowing a gun to be allowed would make it easier to have students themselves cause harm to other students but there is just as much stress, maybe even more, than a college student. Millions of people…
