During the investigation both primary and secondary research will be collected. The secondary research consists of data that has been collected about other experiments similar to this one that has been conducted by other scientific minds. This is because this data will help guide the parameters and guidelines of this experiment. The experiment will be conducted in an effort to determine whether or not increased temperature has an impact on the growth of fish will provide primary data that can be compared to the secondary research that has been collected. This will contribute to interpreting the results of the experiment with better ease as well as identifying any correlation between the collected primary and …show more content…
It is of high importance that the data is analyzed to establish the differences in the relationship between the temperature increase and the growth of both tanks. From this a conclusion can be made as to whether the hypothesis stated at the beginning of the experiment was proven or disproven. In order to validate the data it will be cross referenced with the data collected by peers that conducted the similar experiments. By using a larger test group, this would allow for more data to be collected as well as an overall average of the data to be calculated. However, given the lack of resources and time this is not a currently viable …show more content…
The lower the F.C.R, the higher the weight gain obtained from the feed. The raw size data will also be presented in list form.
3.4 Ethical concerns:
Ethically the concern would be the health of the fish kept at 31°C. This would be because it is seen as an unnaturally high temperature. This can be viewed as animal abuse as animal testing is an ethically controversial issue. The stress placed on the fish when needing to physically weigh and measure them could cause high stress and even mortality, it will need to be done as humanely as possible. Due to the tanks being in a classroom environment additional stress could be caused to the fish due to students attempting to startle or frighten the fish. Finally the fate of the fish after the experiment is complete could be a concern as there will no longer be a purpose for them. This will be needed to resolve to ensure that the most ethical solution is found. Currently the plans to wait until it is a warmer season and release them back into one of the schools
