A1) Yes, being human resource director, Joan Collins should bring the problem before CEO and board of directors because on based on her research, she is convinced that offering health benefits to partners will be more advantageous for the hospital. Though the environment of hospital is socially conservative, it might be possible that some board of members would disagree and some would agree, but at the end they have to look that the outcome is going to be beneficial for this hospital. Firstly, this decision would save them from litigation in future. Moreover, it affects employee’s productivity and morale of other employees. As this is disadvantage of this hospital, thus in order to retain the employees she needs to fix this issue. According to EBRI (Employees Benefit Research Institute) survey conducted by Hewitt Associates 54% of firms offered partner benefits.)

A2) There are potential benefits to Baptist hospital :
According to Nkomo, it will be beneficial in retaining and recruiting employess. As a result of this implementation, employees’ turnover will be less and even the productivity will be affected. According to Dr Agarwal, ample of time and money is wasted when an employee’s resigns. Advertisements, selection, training process, commission paid to third party consultants etc. Thus employees’ turnover rate will be reduced.
