Joining JROTC in high school was the greatest decision I ever made. The program has developed me as a high performing individual and as a strong leader. I was appointed Deputy Corps Commander my senior year, but when the school year started; AP classes, volunteering for my church, and my application to the Air Force Academy also became my priorities. My responsibilities doubled and my workload tripled. As the senior leadership of the program, the decisions we made had an impact on every cadet. The problem that I was faced with was the group commander was not fulfilling her responsibilities. So at this very moment, I was given a choice: sacrifice everything and focus on fixing my unit or do all I can for my responsibilities and hope for the best. I realized no matter how hard I worked there was no way I could do all myself. The importance of leadership and decision making became all too real for me. The decisions I made as a leader impacted all of my corps. These difficult choices reminded me why I want to attend the Air Force Academy: to become an Air Force Officer. Being active in Air Force JROTC and attending USAFA Summer Seminar, I was introduced to many past and present Air Force officers. I admired these for individuals for their service to this country, and their drive for excellence in everything they do. These great leaders pushed me to obtain my dreams of becoming an Air Force
