Senior year is like listening to a broken radio that repeats the same phrase over and over again. As an incoming freshman in college, we are still unable to throw this broken radio out. We've been forced to listen to the phrase "How are you going be successful in college?" I believe that everyone has a different definition of being successful in college. For me, being successful in college is keeping up with my grades and living my life to the fullest.…
Upon receiving my letter for invitation to apply for the National Junior Honor Society came feelings of hard work pays off, and a bit of pride. I have worked very hard to maintain an all A average at Friendswood Junior High while taking some PAP classes as well as challenging myself with Latin. Having been told in a conference with a 5th grade teacher that I was not going to be an A student and that my parents and I needed to get used to that fact, sent me on a mission to be the best student I knew that I was capable of being, regardless of what any teacher thought.…
I went to St. Michael School from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, so when it came time to leave for high school, I was not excited for the change. St. Michael was especially small in regards to student population. We had just under three hundred students split between all nine grades. That left roughly twenty to thirty kids per class. I was extremely used too this small environment and not exactly looking forward to the terrors of high school towering over me nor the thought of being lost in the sea of students. Over the years I was extremely imbedded in my academics. I had straight A’s for my entire time at St. Michael. I received the academic achievement award at Eighth grade promotion for having the highest GPA in my class. Despite this, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up…
While at Albany, I have high hopes and expectations out of my college education. My focus is to succeed academically. I plan on getting my bachelors in nursing and later on pursuing a master’s degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. I expect the courses that I take to not only develop my knowledge but to also strengthen what I already have. Many people do not succeed in college because a lack of resources or they are not taking advantage of the resources that are given to them. Being a part of the Honors Program, I plan to take advantage of every single resource, to make sure that I never fall behind or start slacking on any of my college work. While in high school I was an honors student in 9th-12th grade. Although it was high school, the work came…
How did geography and economy affect the development of Greece and Rome in different and similar ways?…
Advance directive in a true definition means a written document that you will sign telling your surrogate what to do with your body when you’re sick or if you passed. The document indicates your choices about medical treatment; you can also name someone to make decisions about your medical treatment called a surrogate if you are unable to make these decisions. Basically a Advance directive is a way for your family to make medical decisions for your body when your in a critical state. This is made for you to have a way of getting your voice heard when you have passed on. This allows someone you care about to make health care decisions for you when you cannot make them yourself. For example if you cannot make decisions on to pull the…
When I began my senior year of high school, I was tired and unmotivated and chose to give up and not put my full effort into all my school work. I was so excited, my last year of high school. I was always told since I was a freshman that your junior year would be the hardest and the most important because those are the grades that colleges will mostly be looking at and that your senior year would be the easiest because you're mostly taking electives and you only need to focus on you main courses such as economics and english to graduate. When I started school this year I put off all my homework till last minute, I was absent more than usual, my work was sloppy, and I wasn't really participating. I kept thinking that all I need is a 65 in…
It was the beginning of my eight grade year, the year 2013. I relied I needed something more after middle school and I knew I needed to go to St. John’s. This is my second year now at St. John’s. I like where this school is taking me, and I hope I excel my best here. I am in Headquarters Company as the assistant senior drill instructor, I also ended the quarter on the honor roll. Although many people do not care about setting goals, I plan to set the fallowing academic, military, and gratitude goals, to get deans honor role, to become the senior drill instructor, and to become more grate full for my…
There is only a history of this controversy as long as video games have been around, but shorter than that because in videogames early years there were almost no violence in most of the games. Like pong for example you would only hit a ball back and forth, sounds boring right but in actuality it were so popular in its day then something better replaced it (glazer, 2). A never ending sequence where video games will only advance as time goes on. This is an arguable issue because of the belief that video games are bad for you but, there was and is no proof that video games are bad for you. This has been an issue for about as long as the N64 has been around.…
to commit to it. When I finally decided to go through the process applying to Cerritos College,…
There are several goals I have set for myself in college; I aspire to make the dean's-list in all the years I attend college, I anticipate participating in a minimum of two organizations which can get me more absorbed in the community, and finally, I want to become involved with the student body, and attend as many school sponsored events as I can. In my junior year, when I heard I made the honor roll at my high school, I was overcome with a feeling of fulfillment. This was the first time I had made the honor roll and with this achievement was a feeling of pride for the work I put in, and for the way the work reflected in my grades. But, I stayed hungry and kept working to maintain this honor, and I finished on the honor role for the entirety…
Over the next two years, I will be facing some of the biggest obstacles in my life. High school is considered some of the most important years of a student’s life. There, they decide what field they want to pursue and are taught what they need to know to succeed in their field. By the end of 11th grade, I hope to have a 3.8 GPA and have an ACT score between 34 and 36. I hope to have passed Allied health with flying colors, so that in my senior year I am able to find an internship in a great institution. I also hope to be certified in CPR so that I able to move quickly through college and school. By the end of senior year, I have set my goals that I keep a GPA of 3.8 or higher. I will work to achieving being a great President of HOSA and maintaining the other clubs I am a part of. Still, the most important part of senior year is college applications. By the end of first semester, my goal is to be a future student at the University of Michigan. Yet, I will try to apply to George Washington University, UNC Chapel Hill and University of Pennsylvania. I will apply to the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of…
This book has easily become one of the top books I have read as a Liberty University student since the principles that it includes are extremely applicable. Immediately after I had read about “The Law of the Learner,” I repented of how I used to think. Because I was lazy, I would put the blame on the student if he or she were failing, rather than striving to work harder and learn different ways I could create learners. However, after reading Wilkinson’s writings and stories, I desired to be a teacher who would not tolerate students who are not paying attention. Namely, I would do whatever it takes to have students learn, rather than blaming them for not learning. In addition, while I read “The Law of Expectations,” I reminisced of a student pastor actively…
The senioritis problem which revolved around my senior year of high school was a growing one that I did not take note of until I had a major problem on my hands. My senior year started off amazing. It had everything any high school senior would want it to have. The beginning of the school year meant the start of the season for Friday night lights, excessive amounts of school spirit, and bonfires. School was fun, with me thinking very little about the actual academic part of it. My weekday mind was constantly scanning through ideas about what the weekend might hold, or what sporting event I would be attending that night, or the afterschool gym session. The list goes on and on. Autumn and the start of school also meant the sport of archery hunting and the great outdoors for me. I am an avid outdoorsman and love spending my falls in the woods enjoying nature and the changing landscapes. The start of fall and school also meant having the mind of a typical teenage boy. I was thinking about girls and events such as the homecoming dance were constantly flowing through my mind as well. Hunting and being a guy adds just yet more to the list of things that takes up what I think about in my mind. All these things going through my mind at the time…
“I can’t wait to be a senior” was something I would say whenever I walked into my anatomy class full of seniors who did nothing at all but every time I would Jesslyn would stop me, cock her eyebrow, make a ‘you are kidding me right?’ face and say “be careful what you wish for” and I’m now understanding what she meant. Learning responsibility, independence, and how to deal with stress is the most difficult for me coming into senior year.…
