As a kennel technician, I was responsible with taking care of animals staying in the clinic ranging to small and large animals. This included bathing and grooming animals, feeding and watering the animals, and giving any necessary medications. At my clinic, the kennel technicians also helped assist the veterinarians and technicians during procedures and exams. These responsibilities included helping restrain animals, give vaccinations, run blood panels, and run fecal examinations. Also when we were shorthanded I was a receptionist. This mostly included answer phone calls, checking in and out clients, and help answer any of the clients’ questions.…

SwedishAmerican Hospital kicked-off the holidays for staff and patients with its annual “Light the Lights” tree lighting celebration on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, in the lobby of the Heart Hospital. The nearly 12-foot-tall Christmas tree was lit by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Born, after a few brief remarks, but the main attraction were the therapy dogs from SwedishAmerican's Caring Canines…
The service dog’s handlers and trainers understand that the United State federal law provides protection and access for service dogs. First and foremost, the state service dogs are very different and it's vital that you know the laws vary in your state, country, city or town. The service dog law may offer further clarification or additional requirements for various types of dogs in training. The service dogs should be well trained to be alert, on guard, in physical and mental impairments to help assist people of disabilities, and also it might be two or three years in apprentice training. Approximately of 6 months and 120 hours of training. The service dogs might be recognized by wearing collars, harness, and vest. They're not a pet. So for…
My Career is Police Dog Handler. A Police Dog Handler, or K-9 Unit, is a unit in the police force that does specialized police work. They track down suspects, search for missing people, illegal drugs, explosives, and stop a crime in progress. I plan to be in the force after I graduate collage, but before I become a K-9 officer I must be a patrol officer for 3 to 4 years and volunteer on my days off, and have a good home with a fence around my yard and a good dog owner. After I leave the Academy I will be a patrol officer in Mccomb, MS before going to Magnolia, MS to be in the K-9 Division. The main reason I chose this career is that the crime rate and drug use in Mississippi is increasing, not just that but more guns are on the street and more…

This charity saves lives by showing their patients, either dog or human, that they are still loved no matter how lonely. Nonprofit charities are groups of devoted people and generous donators working together for the same cause. The Freedom Service Dogs of America is a foundation full of great people willing to donate their time for an amazing charitable body. Founded in 1987 by Michael and PJ Roche, the brothers strive for redemption of abandoned dogs and help for disabled people. Michael and PJ's idea was to rescue dogs and professionally train them for disabled people to make both the dog and person less lonely. Their charity saves about one-hundred dogs a year and have graduated three-hundred and fifty clients with their newly trained dogs. Freedom Service Dogs of America is an outstanding charity which Veterans Memorial Middle School should donate their earrings to because the foundation donates a hundred percent of their donations to their charity, enhance the life of their clients and provide lifetime support for suffering dogs.…

Should people be allowed to keep pit bull dogs? Pit bull dogs seem to come up in many news topics, and it always seems to be bad news. Nine times out of ten when a dog is in the news it seems to be bad mouthing pit bulls, the news never shows the good side to the breed, which there are a lot of good things about the dogs. As a owner and someone who know many people who own the breed, I strongly disagree. Every breed has the potential to be aggressive and will at some point have at least one instance that another breed will do something bad. I was skeptical about the breed when I was first given the puppy, but now I would never trade her for the world.…
There are common misconceptions and misunderstandings about assistance dogs due to the lack of awareness about the subject. Service dogs are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Owners and handlers of these dogs are allowed to have their dog accompany them in public places that would otherwise ban dogs from entrance. However, therapy dogs are not protected under (ADA) and do not have special permission into public places. This is because they do not provide direct assistance to a disability for the owner or handler. Questions may arise about whether or not people are being honest about their pet being a service dog. However, one is not allowed to question the handler about their disability or ask them to have their dog…

[Jacque], an employee at OC Animal Care in Orange, CA, said, “They’re just like any other dog. They require just as much time as any other dog, so if you have that.…They can be good dogs.” Though they seem scary or aggressive, they can be just like other dogs with training. All dogs need training. When Wakeling spoke about her dog, she said, “I’m totally responsible for how well behaved he is.” Every dog owner is responsible for how they train their dog.…
What Is A Service Animal? Contrary to popular belief, a service animal isn’t just seeing eye dogs. They also are not a pet and shouldn’t be treated like one. All “Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work…
People may react to the fear of allergies or fear of being close to service animals. According to the ADA, it is not an excuse to deny service to those accompanied by service animals (disability.mo.gov). Again, if the particular person is at the risk of a severe allergic reaction, it is the duty of the establishment to seek a solution to accommodate both customers. A well-trained staff can make a significant difference when aware of policies and procedure on how to handle those with disabilities and accompanied service animals (ada.gov). For instance, employees can be trained on ADA regulations and hotel policies on accommodating customers with service animals. In a situation where the public refuses service animals closer to them, the handler…
