* Tsehay Kassa * Personal Ethics Statement * * Ethical perspective is very important any were. People distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behavior in different situations. These behaviors originated from family, village, religious institutions, schools, and the like. To be a good member of profession it is good to know a set of expectations. Different organizations have their own understanding about what it means to be a good employee. This shows there is a need of ethical perspective any were and can affect professional in addition to personal life.
My personal preferred lens is “Reputation Lens.” Values that take priorities in this lens are integrity, justice, courage, and civility. I listen to my intuition to determine what character traits and virtues will best serve the community because my preferred lens is reputation lens.
My blind spot is “Unrealistic Role Expectations.” Because I rely so strongly on the virtues associated with various roles, I run the risk of developing unrealistic role expectations. I will tend to rely too much on the virtues associated with a particular role, forgetting that individuals are imperfect regardless of their role. Even those who live fully into the virtues required in their role may not be able to resolve problems. This is my blind spot that I did not recognize before.

So I have to develop the practice of mindfulness and reflection, at some point I will confront the loss of my center, especially if I lose the role with which I have become identified. I pay attention; my temptation will be to believe that I entitled to special privileges because I have not
