* Internal Summary: Now that I have discussed the shocking statistics of people dependent on drugs, and the different things that could cause a person to become a drug addict. I am going to discuss the effects drugs and alcohol has on the body. 3. Effects: a) Brain/ Mind:

Liver: Cirrhosis
Lungs: Asthma, swelling and damaging of lungs walls, Suffocation/ death
Heart: Straining and making blood flow slower, Chronic heart disease, heart attacks. c) Spirit:
Feeling of complete failure, no sense of self, lack of self-esteem, self-worth, wanting to die, just existing 4. Overcoming addiction:
Rehabs: Inpatient, outpatient
Detox: Medical or Non-medical
Psychiatry: one on one, group settings
