The intention according to the book is to force sexual campaign to be limited to the sphere of normality which is controlled by the government. On the final chapter of the book, Warner takes on the major campaigns and rights and how they are using shame. Larry Kramer, a popular writer, claimed that recklessness is to blame for increased cases of HIV/Aids. On Warner’s account though it is a shame that is causing the spread of STIs. The political power of the country is marginalizing a minor group of the society. Warner claims that the government has for a long time engaged in the use of stigma and shame to discourage sex. Warner advocates for politics that embraces queer culture and sex. His book is showing that the queers are marginalized from the rest of the group when they are trying to normalize what they do. Larry Kramer repeatedly called marriage as the highest form of human happiness. He said that only marriage could guarantee the basic bonds and affection that makes life important. The first argument is that the gay rights campaign is trying to normalize gay relationship through introducing marriage. The pro-gay rights now use marriage as the single most thing that makes people happy to be allowed into marriages. However, Warner has a problem with the way marriage is being used. He has differed with several authors who use marriage to get the rights of gay people. For instance, Warner shows how normalcy is being used to the advantage of the gay people. Gay persons are trying to move into normalcy. Normalcy is where many people are statistically. They then used the institution of marriage to ensure that they join the many people. Warner questions normalcy? He claims that normalcy is the range of social category that is offered by many people.
