Shame In Homelessness
There is no shame in assuming responsibility for a mistake. In fact, accepting accountability for one’s mistakes exemplifies a commendable level of personal integrity. Therefore, there is no shame in the United States populous admitting that it has made egregious errors currently, and in the past, concerning the treatment of their homeless citizens. These poor souls often suffer from drug addiction, disability, mental illness, or the inability to acquire affordable housing. According to The National Alliance to End Homelessness, "...there are 564,708 people experiencing homelessness on any given night in the US. 36,907 (6.38%) are children, 47,725 (8.33%) are veterans, and 269,991 (47.6%) are disabled and unable to work". For these, and many
other, sobering reasons my initiative for creating a better America include utilizing the trending idea surrounding the recent Tiny home revolution within alternative culture; thereby designing a series of emergency temporary housing structures, wherein each tenant may dwell within a 325 square foot tiny sanctuary to call their own. These small dwellings may provide comfort for those experiencing a sudden or harsh transition in their life. Sometimes, we could all use a bit of help, and I will gladly extend my skills to help those in need.
