Dawn breaks over the horizon in the remote wilderness of the equatorial forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and a large community of bonobos splits up for the day. Stomach gurgling, a bonobo wanders off with his group in search of food. Moving as swiftly and majestically as a gymnast, the bonobo swings from tree to tree, its kind brown eyes scanning the trees of the Salonga National forest in search of fruits and insects for ingestion. The ape and his group travel together and go about their day in search of anything but trouble. Thick black hair stands out, not blending with the tree trunks, making the apes somewhat easier to see in the dense forest and giving them a disadvantage over their human predators. When the sun begins to descend over the thick forest, the original community reunites to nest for the night. Once reunited, the apes begin to hoot and squeal, filling the twilight with a variety of high-pitched screams and noises that make them sound as if they’re singing a song. After concluding their…

Time is the destroyer of all things, wiping out life and destroying mountains. Fortunately, a man named Harry Brearley invented an incredible metal, which allows sanitation and precision in many professions. Harry Brearley has benefitted humanity by making a time-standing multi-purpose material named stainless steel, that is crucial in many tools today. Take the case of surgery for example; stainless steel made way for the surgical tools that treated a wart that was potentially dangerous to my mother, because stainless steel is safe and malleable. Surgeries would not be possible without tools made of stainless steel, because the material does not rust, and is made into tools with the precision to safely perform such procedures. Stainless steel benefits humanity by allowing for medical…

I chose Sam Phillips for my producer because I love the blues and “rock and roll” and he played and important role in this area of the music industry. Sam Phillips inspires me to be more creative and to think outside the box when creating music. I think that's what music is all about. Sam not only broke down racial barriers in the music industry but really tested the limits of blues and helped and influenced the creation of “rock and roll”. He was a talent scout during the early stage of his career and I think talent scouts care more about music than even some musicians.…

    A. Phillip Randolph was known as a radical journalist, a labor leader, and a pioneer of civil rights. His mission was to unite blacks against the discrimination which shut them out of well paying jobs in the factories. Many whites and blacks knocked his efforts in the beginning but as time went by people started supporting his message. All over the United States committees of black people were forming to protest in the march on Washington. A lot of people tried to persuade Randolph not to do it but he insisted that it needed to be done. Finally recognizing that he could not be swayed, President Roosevelt signed an order to end the discrimination on plant jobs. This was the beginning of fair employment. Randolph started getting recognized as the most dangerous black man in America because he made someone so powerful do something he really did not want to along with another President by the name of Harry Truman. The programs that have been introduced for the seniors include Tennessee Promise and SAILS. All three of these programs help the students in some way. The SAILS program is a class that students can take to participate in their remedial math classes in high school so they do not have to complete these courses once they are in college (Slaby). The biggest advantage of this class is that once a student has completed this class they do not have to take it in college and they are paying nothing. After students that need the SAILS course, they can also take advantage of the Tennessee Promise program that allows students, “two free years of technical or community college” (Slaby). This is a fantastic program that is helping future generations get the proper education that is soon going to be needed because more and more jobs in the state today are needing a college degree of some kind. So, with the Tennessee Promise, it is allowing students that qualify to attend college and get that degree, where without it they most likely would not be able to attend…
