In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea and Japan. He was a very talented songwriter, poet, and illustrator. He wrote many poems for everyone, no matter what their age was. He earned many awards and accomplished for his amazing work. Although growing up, he wanted to play baseball and hit it off with all of the girls. Instead, he became a talented and well-known poet. Shel can be an important role-model to future children who want to become a poet, author, songwriter, cartoonist, and illustrator. “Anything is possible.
