Short Critical Reflection Paper
In a time where the cost to attend college is becoming so much more expensive it is necessary to find ways to cut costs and save as much money as possible. One such way to cut costs is by downloading and using Open Office, an open source application. There are many advantages to using this application, cost, or lack thereof, being one of them. Another advantage is the fact that it is style driven and the “method of formatting and control of page layout is not only extensive but also very reliable and stable” (Blake, n.d.). Open Office makes the use of style to be more convenient whereas the method in Microsoft Office is a less efficient. Open Office also has some cool functionality that is not found in Microsoft Office (Blake, n.d.).
Microsoft office has many advantages over Open Office as well. The fact that many people use it makes it easy to find help and understanding of how to accomplish something in Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office also does not have much of a problem with compatibility. Microsoft Office also has less of a learning curve than does Open Office. Another big advantage is that Microsoft Office unlike Open Office has a grammar checker …show more content…
which is very useful when writing papers for school. These are but a few of the advantage and disadvantages of both Microsoft Office and Open Office and I’m sure there are many others.
Wikipedia’s mission to share the entire world’s information with everyone, everywhere, anytime has been very successful.
This is evidenced by the fact that there is not really a subject matter that you can Google today that does not have Wikipedia as a result. Wikipedia can also be translated into or from many different languages which means that the information that you find is not only from one particular place or area. This provides for more diverse information for you no matter what the topic. Wikipedia’s mission has not been successful in that the website cannot be used as a reliable source. Because it is a wiki anyone can change the information which means that there could inaccurate as well as accurate information on the
website.
I don’t think that email is completely dead for teenagers. Because they have become such a technology driven generation they are more like to send an email than a letter. Also, because there are smartphones which allow them to check and send emails from their phone they are much more likely to use email. They also text a great deal more than they talk to people. Teenagers are more likely to text than to actually call someone.
