Sarah had blond hair, and blue eyes. She got a job and it was pre-arranged that she would be a nurse’s assistant or a practical nurse in the nursing home. The Nazi’s were afraid of entering the Isolation ward as they were so selfishly, scared of getting sick from disease. Max had then found the family and was 12 years senior by the time they saw him again, also being married at a very early age. As they waited for her father, weeks went by until they found out that he had been exterminated in Auschwitz. In 1986, Jeannine moved to New Orleans in 1986. She was a mother with six children and she still had fantasies that her father was alive. Later on, still being 1986, there was a gathering of survivors in Philadelphia and a nice group from New Orleans went. Jeannine, her sister and her brother all attended, and the gathering took place in a big hall. There were mostly Polish survivors. Some were French. Most would state their ethnicity. The arrived a large table, where the Germans had meticulously recorded every Jewish citizen that was deported and every city in that country. Jeannine spotted her fathers name, and under it was when he was deported and when they were set free. Jeannine’s father had the listing of when he was…

The camp was built near a town called Oswiecim. Hoess was commandant for three and a half years. He expanded the original facility which went into a sprawling complex name by Auschwitz. September 3, 1941 Hoess began his job after visiting Treblinka and learning about how they did human extermination. Rudolf made Auschwitz better than Treblinka by making his gas chambers bigger to kill 2,000 people rather than 200 at a time. Hoess tried a lot of different ways of gassing the Jews. In the early days he used cotton soaked with sulfuric acid then he introduced hydrogen cyanide which killed people within three to fifteen. He said “we knew they were dead because they stopped screaming.” In the last days of the war, Himmler told Hoess to disguise himself among the German Navy personnel. He got away from being arrested for years. On March 11, 1946, he was arrested by British troops. He was disguised as a farmer as he called himself Franz Lang.…

During and before WW2, a great tragedy occurred: The Holocaust. The Holocaust was a systemised genocide orchestrated by the Nazis and targeted at the Jews, Roma, and other “Undesirables”. An interesting fact is that Germany was a diverse, scientifically advanced country, so how were the Nazi able to take over with all of their talk of “it was all the Jews’ fault” propaganda and racism? It’s an interesting collection of facts, but while researching them, I discovered something that made me sick. Genocides still happen to this day!…

I don't try to understand the Nazis and their ideals on chosen race that made them shoot groups of people and burn mothers and children while they're trapped helplessly in barns, instead I look at the stories of the survivors and how they slowly lost their humanity, fate, and even themselves to the darkness that was THE HOLOCAUST. Wiesel’s story is a first account of the horrors of the Holocaust; these accounts were so hard to believe, that even when they were happening, people would shrug them off as mere myths instead of true occurrences.…

The Holocaust did not come with a set of instructions, and there never existed a manual prescribing the deaths of millions of men, women, and children. The Holocaust developed over time and in reaction to global events, political upheaval, and evolving German nationalist ideologies. On a global scale, the World Wars and the United States Depression set the scene for the mass genocide that took place in the 1930’s and the 1940’s in Eastern Europe. The setting of the Holocaust manifests itself in the Second World War and Hitler served as the Nazi ring leader, whom everyone aimed to appease. After the World War 1, Germany lost much land and had to pay reparations to the nations that won the war.…
