His wife snitched on him on where he was fearing that her son would be shipped off to the Soviet Union where he would possibly be tortured.
Hoess was captured and asked questions and then beaten before he finally told them his true identity. When he had his trial in poland he was never denying of the crimes he did as he was just saying he was following orders. He was not scared of what was going to happen to him. He said only 1 million and half were died at the most. He was sentenced to get hung on April 2, 1947. His sentence was carried out April 16. The gallows constructed specifically for that reason. Located at camp
Gestapo.
Hoess was led out punctually at 10 a.m. He was calm with energetic steps (almost strutting) down the main camp street. With his hands handcuffed behind his back the executioners had to help him onto the stool which was over the trap door. A priest was requested by the condemned man. When the hangman pulled the stool the priest read the prayer for the dying. It was 10:08 a.m. and a physician called his death at 10:21 a.m. His remains were probably cremated but unknown.
Rudolf Hoess change of heart was that he was chose to be a commandment of a death camp. He then did all his stuff including getting Auschwitz to be the best death camp. He then tried to go in disguise and be a farmer. As he was trying to hide from police and saying he was a good guy. Then at his trial he would tell the truth and he was not scared as he might of been when he was in disguise. Rudolf was a pretty bad guy but he was then trying to get better by becoming a farmer. Rudolf Hoess life sounds pretty interesting.
