If the parents didn't send their kids away they most likely would have been killed along with their parents. The story states that "The Jewish children lived with host families and attended schools." In this part of the story it showed that they were even attending schools which was already a plus. Later in the story it talks about how some kids even got scholarships! So, it was a good decision on the parents part to send their children away; even if it meant they probably wouldn't see them again, they would still have a life and a good
