Short Story: Stori's Haunted House
Stori and I had been planning on going to this haunted house since November 1, 2015. We couldn’t wait for that night! We were going to make it through, then later walk into school Triumphantly announcing our trip through Jaycees haunted house! It would be amazing and kids in our grade would be in awe! We were planning on going at midnight just to make the stakes even higher. But, it came to a surprise to us that there was no way out of the petrifying haunted house! Every kid would be going to Jaycees that night and possibly never come back! Stori and I got into my mom’s car, got into a seat and buckled up. It seemed like it was a long drive, Stori and I were scared yet excited at the same time. The whole ride we were talking about how there was no way anyone would even believe that we made it through Jaycees at midnight but we were going to make it, we were certain of it! My mom pulled into the parking lot and told us, “Call me when you’re done.” We got out of the car, and headed toward the haunted house. …show more content…
We were terrified, questioning ourselves,
“Is this just part of the haunted house? If so this haunted house is a lot more scarier than we thought.” We were in there for about an hour, hearing screams, thuds, and cackles. We were to scared to talk to each other. I was crying, and I wasn’t sure if Stori was since it was pitch black but according to the little sniffles I heard, I assumed she was. I was about to fall asleep, when I heard everything get silent, then the door creaked open, it was a dark but I could see a little and from what I saw there was no one standing there. We waited a few minutes, then I Exclaimed,
“ We should try to escape.”

“That summer the strangest things began to happen in the rear of the house,” John said. “Doors and windows began to slam. I’d go back there because I thought someone had come in.” Upon inspection though, he would discover the screen door and windows were securely latched from the inside. “There was no way anyone could go out and relatch the door or windows,” John said. One of the more unnerving occurrences even stood his friends’ hair on end. When his friends hung out in the kitchen, which is located in the rear of the house, their cigarettes would mysteriously snuff out. This happened on numerous occasions, but never in the front portion of the house. “I was scared to death of that bedroom, “said john of the room from which most of the spooky happenings seem to take place. That room, which had a window to the kitchen, happened to be his late grandfather’s bedroom and the room in which he died of natural causes 16 years…

Imagine being jolted awake in the middle of the night only to see a ghostly figure staring at you by the foot of your bed. As I walked closer to the entrance, my heart began pounding harder and harder. I could feel the sweat in my hands, as the time closer. Walking into the first room, I was grabbing my dad’s hand. I could feel my hands sweating almost like Niagara Falls. I tried to keep my eyes closed, but it would just make it worst. I slowly began to open them, and the creepy actors were everywhere. They yelled, and ran, all over the place. My fear just got worst.…

In most haunted house stories now, the tormented inhabitants of the house usually discover some secret just before the biggest, most powerful ghostly display at the climax of the narrative. These discoveries are a way to explain the horror of the house. The 1999 film adaptation, The Haunting, embraces this kind of plot structure. If I had, I would’ve known on page 50, when Dr. Montague says, “some houses are born bad… What it was like before then, whether its personality was molded by the people who lived here, or the things they did, or whether it was evil from the start, are all questions I cannot answer.”…

A haunted house should be a place where visitors feel excitement, fear and relief. Excitement begins in line towards the entrance of the haunted house because one is experimenting this with a group of friends. Fear rushes throughout the body, legs begin to shake, and palms begin to sweat because one is mentally preparing for what is coming up. After going through the 20 minutes haunted house toward the end, which felt like hours one begins to feel a relief because it is finally over. In the…

At a young age, women have a tendency to be naïve and innocent. With that, the two factors create a vulnerable persona in a girl, and it compels a person to feel sympathy towards them. “How I Met My Husband” consists of a protagonist, Edie, who is also naïve and innocent as well as humble and simple. These traits convince me to believe her to be a sympathetic character in the story.…

We were so happy, I started explaining to her where we were, how the place looked like and that there was a big garbage can, as I explain tears dripped from my eyes. We hugged each other, cried, and stayed put right next to the garbage can. We finally saw my mother’s silver BMW car. We slowly walked towards the car, making sure that it was my mother or one of our parents are in there. I then saw my mother did something with her hand, I know what that meant to hurry up, I told my little cousins to hurry up and get in the car, we ran as fast as we could towards the car and got in. Since then my little cousins and I learned a very big and important lesson that we will never forget, it to your pacings with your family, close and to tell them that you need a break if you are losing your…

Tired, with a headache, and not in capacity to maintain my eyes open, I remembered next day was Halloween, which was the last thing I remembered before falling sleep. I woke up and saw the watch, it was three o’clock a.m. I listened to a weird sound that came from my closet; it was soft, but I could hear it like a rat scratching the walls. Intrigued about what was happening, I woke up and walked towards the closet. The sound gave me the chills.…
