Should Arrange Marriage be outlawed?
How can you marry someone you don’t have a clue about? Arrange marriage have been around for as long as I can remember. The way it works is that your parents pick out the man whom they believe will make you happy for the rest of your life and you deal with it. Arrange marriage has its benefit and disadvantage, some of the benefits are lower rate in divorce, not having to worry about finding Mr. Right, and stability ( parents will always find one who has a successful career). Disadvantages would be not knowing the person, marriage failing, no attraction, and are not able to speak or meet him before the wedding. Arrange marriage are mostly in the Middle East , Asia, Africa and India, all these countries have different rules such as the age requirement, some are only married within the family, and some tribes will allow the couples to meet a couple times before the wedding takes place. Arrange marriage should be outlawed and nobody should be in such position, if there are some people out there who enjoy it then it should become a choice but not a force. Being raised in American society and seeing all your friends dating it was pretty difficult on me when my parents first announced at the age of 12 that my husband was already picked out and that the wedding will take place after I graduate high school, I was so against it. Middle Eastern parents will tell you either you marry this man or you will be disowned from this family. I choose to marry the man and I was very fortunate that it was with someone whom I had an instant attraction and we hit it off right away, but not everyone is lucky. There was a society opinion survey on www.debate.org if arrange marriage be outlawed 57% said no and 43% had said yes.
