Should assisted suicide be legal?
What would you do if you were laying on a hospitalbed, waiting to die? Feeling your blood running slower and slower through your body, while seing your loved ones with tears in their eyes around you. Wouldn’t you want to end your life?
In my opinion assisted suicide should be legal in most cases. Just imagine going through all the pain and suffering, feeling yourself die slowly, knowing that you only have a limited amount of days left to live. Knowing that in the end you won’t be able to move and you will only be able to lie in the bed waiting, waiting for the day of your death to arrive.
Personally I think that assisted suicide should be legal when a person ha no hope left of surviving the illness. It must be hard for a person to lose his dignity: to not be able to go to the bathroom without help; to not be able to put clothes on without any help and mostly not be able to take care of the people you love the most (like you could before).
People that are agains assisted suicide might sat it’s selfish of the person to ask for assisted suicide, they say it’s the easy way out, because the people that care about the person will suffer. With this I think it’s not selfish, I think that for the family of course it’s hard if the person they love gets assisted suicide but wouldn’t it be harder to see them go through all this pain and struggle? Isn’t it better to let him get away fro all the pain, struggle and sorrow?
We might sit now and think that we would never want to end our own lives, that we woud do anyting possible to survive our illness, but if we went and asked a terminally ill person (that doesn’t have any chance left of surving), if he would want to live or get assisted suicde, then his answer most lkely would be to end their life. When you are laying in a bed waiting for your death it’s like you’re walking on a endless road. You don’t know how long the road is nor how the end of the road will
