Being a dog owner myself, I encourage all city officials to consider the development of dog parks for their residents. The ability to utilize a dog park in my local city has not only allowed my dog to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but it's also allowed me to enjoy the outdoors with my best friend, while creating new friends in the process. I find this type of recreation more enjoyable and healthy for all involved, as opposed to being stuck indoors trying to entertain or please a bored canine. Taking my dogs on regular trips to the dog park allows them to sleep better at night, encourages them behave well in social environments and also helps them maintain their weight and physicial appearance. I couldn't be more of an advocate for these facilities.…
Purdue University states that “The Human-Animal bond is the dynamic relationship between people and animals in that each influences the psychological or physiological state of the other” (“Center”). The Human-Animal bond is essential to the well-being of society. Animals can affect people in many different ways, specifically by providing companionship. This bond has existed for thousands of years, though people’s relationship with animals is much different today than it was in the past. The main reason that the relationship has changed is the concept of owning pets, which is relatively new (Reinisch). The concept of pet ownership has changed the way people see animals because instead of thinking of animals as…
“In the concentration camps, we discovered this whole universe where everyone had his place. The killer came to kill, and the victims came to die” Elie Wiesel. Concentration Camps are specific places in which individuals are detained or confined usually under harsh conditions. They were used to hold political and religious enemies of the Nazi party throughout most of WWII and a majority of the camps were in Poland. They held Jews and various religious groups prisoner. The horrific acts committed in concentration camps defy reason and negatively impacted the lives of millions of innocent people.…
Should people be allowed to keep pit-bull dogs? The pit-bull is an animal wich have…
Having a dog park in a residential area, for the most part, would be very convienient. Some animals owners don't have the yard space for them to run around and to get the excercise they need. Dogs have needs just as much as humans do. But, the citizens do need to consider the down side of having a dog park.…
The designated space for dogs like a dog park is very crucial on the relationship that humans share with animals. The massive pet industry created in the U.S. is nothing but growing and has been for the last fifty years. Through this growth we've seen the positives and negatives.…
In this oral I hope to persuade you that banning dangerous breeds of dogs is the right thing to do with these following arguments, the dog and its owner, the Behaviour of the dogs and the affect they have on our community. My solution/ point of view to this problem is to not destroy/kill the dogs but breed them out. It is a more human and caring way of doing it.…
They don’t like their pets suffering and want the vets to stop it. When these suffering animals are diagnosed with pet allergies, most pet owners are stunned.…
Have you ever wondered what they do to dogs or other animals in the doctor or clinic? Studies have shown that 20% of the animals are hit if they do not listen. Vet schools have been using animals to practice surgery on animals all this time. Imagine having surgery with no medicine to take away the pain. Vet schools have been doing this for some time now. This cannot go on like this, vet schools are not acting ethically.…
Many things go on in vet schools but the most unhuman issue is the amount of animals that are put to death each year for the use of veterinarian students. This is unethical on so many levels. However my main concern is that they are unexperienced and could hurt the animals that they are preforming surgery for or permanently harm them. This relates to being untrustworthy because you can not trust the to care for the animals and help them how they need to be helped. They most likely don't have consent from the owner to change any aspect of the dog that could permanently effect it. Overall this is unhuman and unethical.…
Service animals are trained to help people in need. No I do not think only service dogs should be aloud to go into public places. Why people need different service animals. Different service animals can do different jobs like a monkey can be your hands. What is a service animal?…
Did you know that there's a law that a service dog is the only animal that can go in public places? I think that any service animal should be able to go to a public place as long as they’re helping someone. Monkeys are actually very smart and can help someone more than a dog can. Also other animals may keep someone calm, may help them carry something, and may even give someone exercise. But since this law is here no one is allowed to take any other animal but a dog to public places.…
More veterans are using service dogs to cope with challenges. Many soldiers, sailors, and marines find the transition from combat zones back to civilization to be challenging. The use of medication is not the only option, but the use of “man’s best friend” is living up to its name. Dogs build confidence in their military handlers through unconditional love.. Many people take medication to help them cope with their PTSD. “PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event” (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder 2016). PTSD sufferers can overcome stress and depression with the aid of a pet. Instead of taking medication that has harmful effects on the body and brain, they should get a prescription for a service dog.…
1. What is your opinion on this issue? Provide two or three reasons to support your argument. I feel that only a person with a disability should be allowed to have a dog at work. A person who is just an owner of a dog should not be allowed to bring a dog into the workplace simply for the fact that a dog cannot be dependable or trustworthy of their actions. An employee may be uncomfortable when a dog comes into the workplace and start sniffing around them. The employee do not know what the dog will do if the employee becomes afraid of it. These situations open up liabilities against the company.…
Restorative justice has been gaining ground since 197 when it was used in a case in Canada. This practice allows the victim to meet face to face with the offender and possibly release some anger and move on from the incident. After gaining more ground, today we see Victim Offender Reconciliation Programs across the country trying to help victims after a crime has been committed against them. In this essay we are going to discuss the origins of the modern restorative justice movement, explain how the principles and practices of restorative justice relate to its historical, theological, and social-work roots, describe how restorative practices, including re-integrative shaming, differ from retributive practices, including both the philosophical and practical differences.…
