Going to the Dogs 1. What is your opinion on this issue? Provide two or three reasons to support your argument. I feel that only a person with a disability should be allowed to have a dog at work. A person who is just an owner of a dog should not be allowed to bring a dog into the workplace simply for the fact that a dog cannot be dependable or trustworthy of their actions. An employee may be uncomfortable when a dog comes into the workplace and start sniffing around them. The employee do not know what the dog will do if the employee becomes afraid of it. These situations open up liabilities against the company. 2. If you were an HR manager of a company what per policy would you set and how would you implement it? I would first find out the laws concerning dogs in a workplace and how it works. The policy will be written within accordance to a person with a disability in the workplace and post it on the board for every employee to read and see. The policy should be written to state that the company allows service, social, and therapy dogs only to people with a disability or behavioral problem. 3. How would you decide the case of Elizabeth Booth, and which laws would you base your decision on? Explain. I feel that she should have been allowed to stay at her employment. This being that the Americans with Disability Act states that a “service dog , or other animal individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including but not limited to guiding individuals with impaired vision, or individuals with impaired hearing to intruder or sounds, providing minimal protection or rescue work, pulled a wheelchair, or fetching dropped items”. As long as she provided her place
