Public Dog Park Argument
It is my belief that Muscatine would benefit from the addition of a public dog park. Throughout this essay I will go through my thoughts, both for and against the idea of this park, and I will explain why I think the good outweigh the bad.

Physical excersize is greatly important to a dog's health, as well as their behaviour. In general, a dog will be happier and less likely to be violent or misbehave when it has had the opportunity to get outside and run or play. I am aware that there is the opposing side of this argument that mentions that uses the following example that "[cat owners aren't about to ask for a public catnip garden]", however there are some major faults in that argument as catnip is not an essensial ingredient to a cat's health or happiness. It is also something that is physically able to be utilized inside any place of residence, whether it be a large house with a backyard or a small city apartment. The same cannot be said of a dog's need for excersize. Dogs need space to excersize, and I believe that dog owners and their dogs should have a safe space to do so within.

One is regarding the inherrent noise. The argument brings up that the sound of the dogs barking and their owners yelling to them would disturb nearby residents and possibly cause a lack of sleep. This is an important point, and is why I say the dog park should have clearly posted hours for use, which coincide with the times people generally wake up and go to sleep on each day. Those times could be determined with a public survey of the nearby neighborhoods, or by looking at the most common working hours within a certain radius from the potential

The animals at Marineland are not getting the 100 percent care they need and deserve, but rather are living in poor conditions that are causing them to severely get sick and develop health issues due to the poor quality of water at the park. This article also deals with ethics issue because Dalton McGunity is not taking the right approach to this situation and not looking out for the betterment of the animals. As well this is an ethical issue on part of Marineland because many people consider this immoral as Marineland is not taking proper care of their animals and are at risk of dying.…

The topic I choose to write about is “Pit Bulls – should this breed be banned?” Pit Bulls should not be banned. Over the past years in the United States, Pit Bulls have been portrayed as a breed who is extremely dangerous and untrustworthy that some States are banning ownership of this breed. This breed should not be banned simply because of unfortunate events. It is not until recently that the negative images these dogs are facing by the media started. One may hear or read headlines in the news stating “Child mauled by a Pit Bull,” or “Owner killed by a Pit Bull,” yet the media does not disclose that certain dog’s upbringing…

Being a dog owner myself, I encourage all city officials to consider the development of dog parks for their residents. The ability to utilize a dog park in my local city has not only allowed my dog to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but it's also allowed me to enjoy the outdoors with my best friend, while creating new friends in the process. I find this type of recreation more enjoyable and healthy for all involved, as opposed to being stuck indoors trying to entertain or please a bored canine. Taking my dogs on regular trips to the dog park allows them to sleep better at night, encourages them behave well in social environments and also helps them maintain their weight and physicial appearance. I couldn't be more of an advocate for these facilities.…

My personal opinion on the matter is that as long as the dog park is going to be a positive impact on the neighborhood. In both articals it talked about the positve and negative aspects of building a dog park in the local area, One of the leading arguments for the positive side is that the majority of the pet owners live in an apartment complex and do not have space for their dogs to run free due to city ordinance. The fact that in new york dog bite reports went down from 40,000 to fewer than 4,000 per year is enough concrete evadience to allow an area to be put aside for a dog park to be built.…

In the first passage, the dog owner states that the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) believes that dogs that don't get much exercise tend to misbehave at home. Did you know that there's a law that a service dog is the only animal that can go in public places? I think that any service animal should be able to go to a public place as long as they’re helping someone. Monkeys are actually very smart and can help someone more than a dog can. Also other animals may keep someone calm, may help them carry something, and may even give someone exercise. But since this law is here no one is allowed to take any other animal but a dog to public places.…
