We Should Be Allowed To Be Service Animals

Imagine if people could force you to let them bring their pet into all shops, malls, or cafés, just because they said it was their “service animal” and it comforted them. I believe that the law that only allows certain animals to be service animals is fair, because of some animals having illnesses, and because some animals create an unhealthy environment. One reason I believe this law is fair is because of illnesses and diseases some animals carry. For example, the text New Service Animal Rules by Clare Mishica states that “The changes were needed to protect people from diseases. Different animals carry certain diseases. When animals go into public places, they might pass illnesses to humans.” However, if we only have animals that have no diseases, everyone will be safe.
The article named Monkey Helpers by Tamra Orr states that “a monkey could suddenly hurt a person if it got angry or frightened for some reason.” the text also tells us that even trained Capuchin monkeys can suddenly become violent and be dangerous to ourselves and other people around us. New Service Animal rules also adds on to the idea that some animals create an unhealthy environment by telling us “some animals are not trained to keep an area clean. For example, birds could leave droppings on a store floor. This creates an unhealthy setting for others.” Only certain animals should be allowed to be service animals because some animals have diseases and illnesses, and some create an unhealthy environment.
