Should Dress Codes Be Allowed In Schools

Imagine living in a world where dress code makes everyone look the same; a world that is bland and boring. In today’s schools, dress code has gotten very strict and I feel like this can affect the students attending the schools. For example, schools with a strict dress code doesn't let students express themselves, it doesn’t allow students to be unique and dress code rules in various schools can be very sexist towards girls.
Strict dress codes doesn’t allow kids to express themselves. Many kids feel like dress code is unnecessary and that it restricts our freedom to express ourselves. The main reason that I feel this way because a common statement that seems appear when a girl gets dress coded is that they were wearing something that was “distracting”. Schools make it seem like it’s our (girls) fault, we were being “distracting”. Tana Mongeau, a famous youtuber, posted a video about an experience she had with her school dress code. After begging her parents to buy her makeup they finally gave in and bought her an eye shadow palette. When she wore it to school the assistant principal told her that she would no longer be able to wear the makeup because it was distracting. She decided that this was unfair and continued wearing the makeup, the next day the assistant principal told her she would be expelled if she ever wore the makeup again. After that she told her parents and long story short the assistant principal ended up getting fired and she continued wearing the makeup. Just like Tana,young girls should not be afraid to wear what they want no matter what the consequences are. Young girls should be able express themselves and instead of us having to be ashamed for what we choose to wear, young boys should learn how to respect a young girl with whatever she chooses to wear. I mean girls are always looked down on and put into categories for wearing what they want. This can lead to mental problems as well because it can start to make us feel guilty and bad about wearing a
