Should school athletes have to take drug tests? Would you want your star basketball player to be kicked off the team during playoffs? Of course not! Would you want your whole football team to losing because of some marijuana being passed around the locker room? No! These are just a few reasons why I believe high school athletes should be required to take drug tests randomly throughout the season. About 17% of high school students use drugs every single day. That only counts the students that use it every day. Just imagine how many students use drugs every once and awhile. Whether the students are using them every day or whenever they feel like it. If they start testing randomly then the athletes who get caught will have to stop participating in their sport. Athletes who know there will be drug test will stop using them because they will want to play for the team. If they choose to not stop then they will most likely get caught. The random drug tests will reduce the use of drugs in the school. It is up to the athletes whether they want to play or risk getting caught and kicked off the team.
