Should Ipads Be Allowed In Schools
According to Albert Einstein, “I fear the day the technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” I believe that iPads should not be in schools because they distract students during school and that students need less screen time.
First of all I believe that Pads should not be in schools because they distract students when the teacher is teaching. Some schools are banning cell phone and iPods, but iPads stay. Students might have the same social media apps and games on their iPad’s, that they have on their cell phones or iPods. During school social media and games distract students from the teacher. Some parents are worried that all their children do during school is play games and post stuff on social media. And for some students that is true. Therefore I think that schools shouldn’t have iPads because of all the different apps that distract students when they are supposed to be learning.

I do think that students with disabilities should get iPads, but the whole student body does not need one. My opposition believes that the iPads are lightweight, and they are light but it just makes them easier to drop and break. They also like the iPads because of all the apps. But I think the apps are the problem. There are over 1.5 million apps in the apple app store, and 528,632 of those apps are games. Now think of all the different apps that are on the iPad’s of the student

As a former public school teacher and administrator, I am typically not in favor of anything that might cause a distraction to the pedagogical process. Over the past several years we have seen the rise of many gadgets that have done just that. For me, the most intrusive apparatus arriving in the classroom that continues to vex educators has been the smartphone. Teachers are forced to constantly perform the “turn that off,” “log off that,” “put that away,” dance everyday resulting in the loss of valuable learning time. Now, we have the fidget spinner.…

Opponents of tablets say that they are expensive, too distracting for students, easy to break, and costly/time-consuming to fix. They say that tablets contribute to eyestrain, headaches, and blurred vision, increase the excuses available for students not doing their homework, require costly Wi-Fi networks, and become quickly outdated as new technologies are released.…

Some people think that it is a bad idea to replace tablets with textbooks and some other people think it is a good idea. There can be many opinions over this topic, so let’s explain why we shouldn’t have them replace our textbooks. The first reason that we shouldn’t have them is because if you lose them it’s it will have a critical impact on school. One of the reasons it could have an impact is because we could lose everything you had on it. Not only that but they also cost a lot of money. If we keep the normal textbooks it will save money over time because they last longer than normal devices, and not only that they are a lot cheaper. The textbook might break but they are not that expensive to replace.Another factor with the tablet is that…

In 2005 an Arizona high school passed out iBooks to all of its students instead of the traditional textbook (Source A). School officials were under the impression that having this technology would further engage their students in learning, though what they failed to address is other things it might engage their students in. Teenagers of this age already have short attention spans, and when using the internet, the moment a student gets bored they can click out and focus on something that suits them more than hundred year old articles about the Declaration of Independence, and instead spend hours scrolling though Tumblr or watching pointless music videos- or porn (Source E). Until schools figure out a way to quality control the internet, passing out laptops and iPads will not necessarily engage their students in learning.…

Again, to express the importance of this issue in our society is very important for our future generations. Technology is not going in a backwards direction and to not experience certain tools at an early age may damper your skills later on in life. There are a multitude of schools all around the country that are just now starting to acquire MacBooks and iPads for use in the classroom. There have been some issues associated with the program at some schools, but just as any new program, the small issues are worked out at first and the outcome will be a more comprehensive system of…

Giving a developing child an iPad for classroom learning is harmful because it pulls away from activities that develop children’s social skills. Children seek to learn new information; whether they ask the age old question “why?”, or talk to anybody who will listen, children learn from the things around them. With advancing technology, iPads and phones, children are more involved with technology rather than growing their life needed skills. “We’ve recovered six full school days’ through our iPod and iPad use…elementary students have been using...math apps to refresh their skills as they transition from recess to class” (D’Orio). This is a great example of how communication is being ignored during the school day. Kids in the Generation X and Generation Y loved recess. It was a time of the day that one could play with all their friends and not have to focus or worry about school, just be a kid and run and play. Now that iPads are allowed in the school, students are giving up their time of interaction with other students…

Did you know that more than half of the world’s students are using tablet computers? To all the students out there who are not lucky enough to even use a computer (at home or at school), I am deeply sorry for you since half of the people that are at the same age as you are surrounded by information, and are improving their knowledge of the world everyday. No worries! After this speech you will have all the rights to go against who ever would not let your school have laptops/computers. "How is it possible to convince my headmaster to let us have computers in school?” A Chinese proverb once said: “Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in a different time.” It clearly states how the minds of the elders and the juniors are so different since they were born in different times or even centuries. Would you rather listen to a person who has a mind to create more possibilities and not stick to the old rules or a person who sticks any same old rules that their elders once told them and rule the school? I bet you most people would choose a person who creates more possibilities than an old man who sticks to the rules and not let the school have technology. I mean, what is the point of a school, which only has books and pencils, and never interact with visual presentations; it would make the students lives in to hell! When they grow up, what job would require them to only write in books and pencils? If your child does not know anything about technology, what can they even be when they grow up? Nothing is my answer to that. You might say an architect, but sadly, they do use computers too, since after they finish the planning and design of the building, they would have to scan it on a computer and send it out to the managers. Our lives depend on technology and computers. Kids in school used to write on paper and read out of books But the fact is, more and more kids in school…

We know that education is one of the most fundamental tools for progression. In contrast, we are allowing some students to use electronic devices that may intervene in the learning catch up of the students. Using an electronic device for activities unrelated to the class distracts the student using the device, his/her neighbors, and the professor. It disrespects your classmates and your instructor. And learning suffers. Use of these devices is not solely an individual's choice since it affects the entire group.…
