In many commercials, you might hear a song that sounds familiar or even a song that you like. This commercials have made deals to artists to use some of there music to represent there product. For artists, this might be a good move, or is is? Artists can make a lot of money doing this and can use there money for shows and tours, but in another sense, there song might be over played and might lose some fame because of there deal. This is a good move for many reasons but has some problems with it.

Most artists have songs that are over played and they try to stay away from that. If the song gets old then nobody would want to listen to them anymore. For example, U2 and Apple had a deal and many people didn't like it. An article about selling out stated, "Sometimes popular, well-established artists who seemingly have little to gain from these deals end up having the most to lose. Take U2 for example—one of the world’s most popular rock bands who, after landing a deal with Apple that had their 2014 album
Songs of Innocence installed into 500 million iTunes subscribers’ libraries for free, faced a storm of negative feedback from fans and critics alike. People resented the idea that an album they didn’t ask for was forced on them, likening the album to “musical spam,” and there reputations of both U2 and Apple were damaged" ( Johnson) This states that you shouldn't sell out and try to put your music out to much or it will get old. They just have to equal out the product output and not try to spam.
Many people like me believe that it is good to advertise your music with companies. It gets the artist more money and can help a company gat more money. This can increase there record sales and can give them more fame. There could be some bad sides of you don't watch what your doing but most likely will be worth
