My course modules have equipped me with well-developed skills and knowledge in the areas of problem solving, critical thinking and data analysis. My summer internship at a market research firm has helped me gain valuable knowledge in the area of consumer research especially in the analysis and interpretation of research data. I possess strong verbal and written communication skills shaped by the many projects and presentations undertaken during my high school and degree years. I work well under pressure and love a challenge.…

The main focus for this lecture is how to differentiate yourself in resume or prepare for any job interview process. Adria shared some knowledge in how to get more experiences by doing internship. In Derek Bok’s “Preparing for a Career”, the author argues that balance is obligatory when it comes to vocational and liberal art schools in order for students to prosper in college. With the change in time, the college graduate expectancy rate has augmented. At the same time, the requirement and educational level has also gotten more difficult. Bok writes this essay from a professor’s perspective. It is noted in his autobiography that he was a student at Stanford University and George Washington University (Bok 36).He was also a former dean of the law school at Harvard University. His experience by itself gives him credibility to what he is writing. He has experienced different top universities and working at one has given him the insight…
Halperin believes that internships here focus on giving students ideas about how and where to pursue job opportunities, and to encourage people to think creatively about these “practice” work experiences. Halperin wants us to believe that unpaid internships are totally worth the hours one puts in and the hard work. Halperin states, “[L]ocation and intern duties play just as large a role in luring students to apply “(588). This article is interesting because it consists almost entirely of the results of an informal survey. As recent and about to be graduates know all pros and cons of the unpaid internships from their personal experience, in my opinion, their arguments are persuasive. Halperin argues, “The value of internships can’t be calculated in solely financial terms “(590). Indeed unpaid give you a chance to gain useful experience that can’t be learnt in a classroom. Moreover, as an intern, you have a chance to meet people who are professionals in your field, and it’s a great way to network. In addition, many interns are getting hired on to staff. However, internships shouldn’t be seen only as opportunities to be hired in the place where one interns. Experience, a test-drive of a career and connections are much more important.…
I would like to start my Human Service work in a counseling position. I am a very good listener. I have people that love to come and talk to me about their problems or situations. I also help them to find better ways to express their thoughts and emotions when solving their problems. I am studying for my Associate Degree in Human Service at University of Phoenix. I chose this field because of a personal life experience I had at the age of nine. I also feel that I have the right attitude and personality for a counseling job. I am compassionate toward others and have empathy toward their problems. I know that these situations happen to the best of us. I am able to connect with others even if their experiences and mine differ greatly. I appreciate their own value in life and want to help them to overcome obstacles they encounter. I am tolerant of other’s view (and this was learned with life’s experience) and I am willing to share my own experiences to help other people be more comfortable with their own situation. I am generally very accepting of others and friendly toward people. I want to start by interning at Georgia’s Department of human resource in Atlanta to get the feel of the positions that I will be applying for in 2014. This internship will allow me to work directly with Social Workers, Case Managers and Therapists. I will put my positive personality and style to work for these companies and organizations by giving them a person that loves helping people. I have not met my qualifications of the jobs that I am applying for, so the experience I get will help greatly when I graduate in October 2013. I plan on continuing my education after I graduate and aim to get my Bachelor’s Degree, I understand that the Associate Degree may be me in the door, but a BA will keep me. I want to work in a team of faculty and employers and feel that I can help such a group increase their sense of community. I have even thought about going back to my hometown and helping my…
One of the more important things I learned from this internship is that I don’t want to work in California; I dislike the hyper social, flaky, culture. I also learned a lot about how working with a living history program feels like. It was more social than I imagined. This knowledge will affect my life plan in that I am sure I don’t want to go to college or pursue a career in California. I also think I am more inclined to seek a career as a Librarian than as a schoolteacher, given that enjoyed working in a library much more than working in a…

Associates degree, in any genre, is an academic program taken at the undergraduate level. It gives students basic technical and academic knowledge they need for employment or further study in the field chosen. Associate’s degrees are commonly offered in the United States, but can be found in parts of Canada. Australia, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands have similar programs, but found under a different name known as foundation degree. These degrees are at various types of colleges across the United States. Some of those colleges include community and junior colleges, technical colleges, and university institutes. Typically, this degree takes a full two years to complete an associate’s degree. Some students use the associate’s degree as preparation for their bachelor’s degree, but for others it is a qualification on its own. (“Top Universities”)…

After graduating in December, I had a Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture Leadership and Development with an emphasis in Animal Science. But I couldn’t just up and leave quite yet. I still had five months left at my internship. The Marketing and Sales Internship equipped me with so much more than I could have asked for. I built upon my relationship building strengths, and created a substantial network of peers, professors, and mentors. I was able to hone my communication skills, and how I interact with the public and potential customers. And finally, I was able to see interdepartmental communication and operations, also the interaction of one outside agency with another outside agency. This allowed me to see what worked and didn’t work in order to create ideas and plans for any future jobs I would have.…
Studying at university is not just about learning a lot of things that are fascinating in themselves but — at least in the case of most Arts subjects — rather disconnected from ‘the real world’. At the same time as you develop your knowledge of your subject and the skills required to perform well in it, you’re actually developing a whole range of skills and intellectual abilities that can be transferred to other areas of life, including your future employment. Arts subjects don’t generally equip you for a specific job; they actually equip you to undertake almost any job that doesn’t required specialised scientific training. Moreover, university life is intended to present you with all kinds of chances to develop yourself as an individual with a range of interests and experiences, and not just as someone reading books, writing essays and taking exams. An Arts graduate should be versatile, imaginative, critical, flexible, incisive, confident and articulate, and so ready for any challenge or task — if only you can recognise these abilities in yourself.…
Firstly, I cultivated a hobby of graphic designing at such a young age of twelve. From that point where I have discovered a new passion that I was really good at, I told my young self that I want to be a graphic designer when I grow up. After spending many hours out of my day practicing, I skills became so superb that I was inducted into the nationally recognized Searider Productions as a freshman in high school. Through this program I was offered numerous great opportunities to better my skills and get myself out there. As a matter of fact, Searider Productions is what lead me to my internship for Relativity Media in Beverly Hills, California. Relativity Media took notice in our companies skills in the media department and offered me an internship over the summer. When I got the news, my mind boggling self saw it as a window of opportunity, a step closer to becoming a professional graphic designer. This internship has truly showed me a new meaning to…
