Should The Litter-Bot 1.0 Reduce Marine Circles?
Robots are machines that can be re-programmable and used to solve or perform a specific task that humans are not able to do. The robot that we are using is capable of doing a specific task and being programmable and re-programmable. The robot is able to accomplish many things if you program it right. A specific robot specialized in picking up marine debris from the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch is called Litter-Bot 1.0. Ultimately, the Litter-Bot 1.0 should undertake the task of removing the litter of the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch, improve the quality of life, and the Redbot should affect the political, economic, and social conclusions or outcomes. Litter-Bot 1.0, is a robot that is programmed and designed to help pick marine debris or litter beneath or on the water surface. Litter-Bot 1.0 is placed in the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch. The Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch is located in the North Pacific Subtropical Convergence Zone. The litter is on the surface of the water. There will be a coder on the boat …show more content…
This is true because if the fish eat the litter mistaking it for their food then they will have chemicals or the litter still in their digestive system or stomach. After that, if somebody kills the fish and then eat it, then the “eaters” will have the litter or chemicals and then the consumer(s) may die. Another reason is that if the animals eat the marine debris, then they may die from the chemicals, they may be strangled, or if they survive, they may be disfigured. Also, Litter-Bot 1.0 helps the habitat by getting the litter that could harm, destroy, or both. Litter-Bot 1.0 gets the marine debris from the habitat, then the animals can be safe and healthy and if people eat these safe and healthy fish then the people are also happy, safe, and healthy. Therefore, Litter-Bot 1.0 improves the quality of life for animals, habitats, and

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) has caused a lot of problems. People have come up with ideas as to how we can fix the problem in a cost effective and plausible way. One of the major concerns is the wildlife in the oceans. Marine biologists use devices such a waterproof cameras to track the movements and habits of marine life. This may allow us to see how the trash is affecting the animals in their habitats but can be disrupted if there is to high of a concentration of trash in the water. Marine biologists also use biostatistical programs and microcomputers to enter in information that tracks the animals. It can be shared with other scientists. While marine biologists and animal rescue teams are saving animals lives…

In addition to the environment, marine animals mistakenly eat plastic bags due to people’s littering, which keeps killing ocean wildlife. The clean and blue oceans in California always attract tourists to spend time enjoying it during their holiday. Nonetheless, trashes littered by people gather together in the oceans due to ocean current, and plastic bags play a key role. As plastic bags dissolve, it forms a collection of marine debris, which forms Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Generally speaking, Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a lot of marine debris is collected together by the ocean current. People can distinguish this garbage easily, but marine animals don’t have this ability. According to California Coastal Commission, marine debris harms…

Everyday trash gets thrown on the side of the road and in other public areas like parks, schools, and neighborhoods. When trash gets left in these areas for a long time, some of the metals, plastic, and foods can harm plants, animals, even humans. The Litter Bot is an Adafruit that can pick up trash. Redbots or Adafruits are kits that can be put together to create a machine that is programed using Arduino to do tasks that can help provide a service for society, improve quality of life, and will eventually impact political, social and economics for American society.…

The ocean. It cover most of the planet. And yet, we know virtually nothing about it. And even we can’t explore the entire ocean ourselves. That’s why we built robots to do it for us. The problem is that we can’t study the animals without scaring them away with our robots. That is where Puffy comes in. He is pufferfish themed, because of the fact that another fish like a pufferfish wouldn’t scare them away, right? You might be thinking, what if a tiger shark or something tries to eat it. Well, if that happens, the robot will be built to be bigger, faster, and the spikes sharper, as well as having a juice that will stun whatever tries to eat it. That way it would not hurt the animals, but only temporarily stun it so Puffy can get away.…

Another positive effect of littering is having a filthy water supply. When you see a factory dumping waste into a river or stream, it will eventually make its way into our tap water, how delicious! It’s like they’re putting a little bit of flavoring in it for whoever drinks it, it’s just so thoughtful. In addition, when waste is dumped, it usually kills the animals in the water, so you don’t have to worry about fishes swimming around in your drinking water. The big shot company owners are always thinking about the little people.…

This is probably the reason why the earth is being polluted with trash. Studies show that people litter because they do not feel responsible for public areas and that people usually litter outside of their neighborhoods where the trash becomes someone else’s problem. One example on how litter can affect the environment is that organic litter can cause water pollution and lead to algal blooms, and cigarettes could also start fires if they are not put out and then discarded in the environment. In Al Gore's speech he talks about how in 7 years the North Polar ice cap might “fall off a cliff.” This might happen in 7 years because of the Northern Hemisphere tilting away from the sun. This happened because of all the pollution and global warming we caused and because of our trash. So, people may argue and say one piece of trash on the ground doesn't really matter and that it’s okay to throw little pieces of trash on the floor but it’s not. Every little piece adds up and still causes damage on the environment. So think next time you're about to throw your candy wrapper in a nearby bush. Think about the consequences of that action and how it will affect the…

    (6) Sometimes, the marine life that eats our garbage find their way onto our tables as our food. Our digested trash, which has soaked up many toxins, contaminates the fish. If these fish, by some miracle, do not die before fishermen catch them, they poison us. Also, (7) certain chemicals plastics consist of are slowly released into the air we breathe and the water we drink. These chemicals could potentially cause many awful diseases and defects, (8) such as, however not limited to, cancer, liver dysfunction, asthma, bronchitis, severe lung problems, and a multitude of skin diseases. Many of the more common effects, however, are not fatal, such as dizziness, eye and nose irritations, coughing, headaches, and tiredness. But the risk is too high to leave it be until a later date. Not only does our horrible habit of pollution kill marine life, it may also find itself taking…

The most common effects of dumping plastics into the ocean are entanglement and ingestion. There are six main types of ocean pollution happening: oil, sewage, air pollution, agricultural runoff, sunscreen (lesser known), and the most common type being dumping. Ocean dumping consists of dumping garbage, sewage, waste chemicals, and construction debris into the ocean. Entanglement is a large factor in the deaths of marine animals and is also the most common. Entanglement “kills through drowning, strangulation, dragging, and reduction of feeding efficiency” (Moore, 132). The most common types of marine debri that cause this are fishing gear, balloons, and plastic bags, because they are easily wrapped around the marine animals necks and feet.…
