Casey Neistat’s video “Texting While Walking” is arguing against texting while walking by listing the dangers of it. His claim that texting and walking is dangerous. Neistat uses examples of actors running into things due to them not paying attention to their surroundings, disrupting the flow of pedestrians because they stop in the middle of a street, and other pedestrians becoming annoyed by the actor texting and walking to defend his claim (Neistat, 2012). The main purpose of “Texting While Walking” is to inform the viewers about the dangers of texting and walking and the audience is all those who text and walk or are around those who text and walk. Neistat’s argument in “Texting While Walking” does not work, because it exaggerates the…

Many people communicate by cell phones on a daily basis. But they don’t know or understand how this will impact their safety. Driver distractions are becoming a significant problem in motor vehicle collisions. As stated by Cramer, Mayer, and Ryan using a cell phone while driving is hazardous and it magnifies their risk of having a collision, which multiplies the risk of fatalities (2007). Since people do not understand the risk of in vehicle cell phone use, I came up with this research question. Additionally, I wanted to found out how a driver’s safety is impacted by cell phone use.…

For every year that passes, more than 5,000 Americans’ lives come to an abrupt end due to distracted driving. These numbers are almost identical to the number of road fatalities that are caused by intoxicated drivers, showing a correlation that someone who is on their cell phone while driving is just as likely to be in an accident as they would be if they decided to drive under the influence. With these numbers rapidly growing each year, more states are deciding to take legal action by banning the use of cell phones while driving. Simultaneously, the majority of automotive companies are including built-in technology such as Bluetooth and GPS systems to allow people to have access to technology while minimizing their risk of becoming distracted…
Unless the risks of cell phones are shown to outweigh the benefits, we should not restrict their use in moving vehicles; instead, we should educate the public about the dangers of driving while phoning and prosecute irresponsible phone users under laws on negligent and reckless driving. Assessing the risks We have all heard horror stories about distracted drivers chatting on their cell phones. For example, in a letter to the editor, Anthony Ambrose describes being passed by another driver “who was holding a Styrofoam cup and a cigarette in one hand, and a cellular telephone in the other, and who had what appeared to be a newspaper balanced on the steering wheel—all at approximately 70 miles per hour” (128). Another driver, Peter Cohen, says that after he was rear-ended, the guilty party emerged from his vehicle still talking on the phone (127). Admittedly, some drivers do use their cell phones irresponsibly.a cellular telephone was not being used” (433).…
Cellphones are used in daily life. Cellphones help others communicate and learn more about a variety of topics on the go. However, some individuals do not use these devices properly. Those who agree with this law believe it will be very helpful to their community, while those against it believe the law infringes on their rights. Those against this law have not considered the positive affects this will have on many citizens. Therefore, cellphone use while driving should not be allowed! Those against the outlaw of cellphone use while driving believe that many important messages and phone calls could be missed or ignored if…
As community members, we have responsibilities. One of our most important responsibilities is social responsibility because it requires all of us to make a difference. This growing ethical issue has compelled people to take a stand on April 30, 2010 to form an awareness day called No Phone Zone Day (No Phone Zone Day, 2010). Not only is driving while using a cell phone an ethical issue, it is currently a legal issue as well in many states.…
There are a lot of people get killed each year because of the cell phone distraction. There are evidence suggests that the relative risk of being in a traffic accident while using a cellphone is similar to the hazard associated with a blood alcohol level at the legal limit. Car accidents caused by distracted drivers continue to become more prevalent as the number of handheld electronic devices continues to grow. It is clear that advances in electronic technology have resulted in a corresponding increase in driver distraction.…
Many examples exists that show the danger of technology and movement combined, such as when people listen to music and are crossing roads, riding bikes in public areas, skateboarding on public roads, crossing railroad tracks, and cannot hear danger like approaching cars, weather sirens or any other dangerous noises.
