Should We Be Required to Get a License to Become Parents?
To all the students in this class, I believe that all of you are familiar with being yelled at by our parents, maybe it was because of your report cards or maybe it was because you went out late. Whatever reason it was, I am sure that none of us was happy about our parents being ‘whiny’, right? But, at all the times that happened, have you ever hated your parents so bad you want to die so that you can make them feel bad at your funeral? Believe it or not, this is what some of the children who were interviewed by the Nationwide Coalition to End Child Abuse want to do. The question is: “Why would such heart-breaking thoughts like these appear in the mind of these kids?”. The answer is ‘bad parenting’. Bad parenting, along with its negative effects on children and society, raise the question: “Should people be required to get a license in order to become parents?”. I know some might laugh at this seemingly impractical idea. They may argue that being parents is the most basic and natural job a human being is given and that biological parents all have the right to live with their biological children like they supposed to. However, I, along with many others, strongly believed that just leaving them in the hand of these people is, in many ways, not a logical idea.

First of all, children learn what they live, but not every parents can provide their children with a good environment to live in and learn. If the child was born into a family where the bad-tempered father would beat up the mother every time he’s impatient, it will learn to be an aggressive kid, who may grow up and hurt people. If the child was born into a rich family where its mommy and daddy give it big bucks every time it want, it will become a spoiled child, who will never learn the value of money, as well as the value of earning it.

The next point I would like to make is, every child deserves to live in the loving hands of its parents, but not every parent give birth to a child wanting it and

When a child is not properly taken care of they can pick up bad habits. A child that isn’t thought properly will most likely fail economically in the future. They won’t just fail because of bad habits they pick up but also because of the corrosive relationship that uninterested students and unequipped teachers have. They will not be able to do well in school and feel as though a good education is too far for them to reach. Children that grow up in poverty are missing too much and it leads to a cycle that continues generations of impoverished people that will have impoverished children. As Leslie Lenkowsky wrote in her review of Shipler’s book “Still, he is convinced that the key fact about the working poor is their lack of income, which gives them and their children less room for error in everything they do. "Without the buffers of family affluence, achievement, and ambition," he writes, "a child is dangerously exposed." Children in poor families don’t have much room for error if they want to leave their poverty…

If parents raise a child with the wisdom, respect, and always motivate you to do better, a child will be tremendously smarter and motivated to do great things. If a child feels like they have been pushed to do the right thing and educated in the right ways, it will help them do better than kids who are not getting that treatment in their upbringings. This book is very eye opening and I recommend it to everyone who would like to see the world in a different point of…

Children today are given everything and in return give nothing, this is bad for humanity to become a grow and remain prosperous. Children need experience and they need to be resilient to petty problems and learn how to fight actual problems. Children need to grow into healthy self-sustaining adults. Parents often time in present day America often give their children better opportunities in school and expect them to perform up to the level that the money that they spend should equate to. This way of parenting causes high amounts of stress for the student because they feel that if they aren’t getting A’s then they have failed at their job as a student (Source A).…

People who choose not to have an abortion and don’t want their children some of the times end up putting them into foster care when they are just babies. When parents act rude or disrespectful, their children also learn to act that way because they think that it is acceptable. Intro to quote “Attitudes most frequently considered involve the degree of warmth and acceptance or coldness and rejection that exists in the parent-child relationship” (Grusec and Tanya n.pag.). This quote reveals that children's attitudes are hugely impacted by their parents attitudes towards them and others. Which is because, as stated, when parents are closer and kinder to their children, they have better attitudes, and when parents are distant and more aggressive with their children they have more negative attitudes. However, parents attitudes are also affected by certain factors. One of which is money. Therefore, children's attitudes are also affected by their economic situation. Intro to quote “Their parents socioeconomic background determines young people's outlook on success in life” (citation). Explain and conclusion…

Parents, when their children are born, have a certain way they think that their child will be when the child grows to adulthood. So, assuming they know what the child should be like, raise the child to try to fit into a certain mold of a “good child.” But no two people are exactly alike. A father may have been an athletic jock with great grades, while his son could be unathletic and struggle in school. On the other hand, maybe a child could be a great student but the parent expected the child to only be athletic and then does not support the child in school. It was Jim Morrison, lead singer for the the band The Doors, who said, “The most loving parents and relatives commit murder with smiles on their faces. They force us…

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all children are not slaves to their creators nor responable for their duties. Families are created apon values which should be upheld and honored by all. These are consitituded by honoring the ideas of privacy, individualism, and self-empowerment. It is too often enough when a parent involves themself too much in an child's life, causing unwanted attention. When this occurs, an infrigement on basic values, it is the right of the child to raise up, and take the freedom that they deserve. For it the child that is struggling through school with muliple burndens. It is the right of a child to make thier own rules for when they have to be home and their descision for what they want to eat and when to eat it. Open adoption birth parents experience a sense of less guilt as a benefit (Gray 27) of the adoption but what benefit does the child rear? Adoption should be more for the child and less for the birth parents emotional ground. But closed adoption does give the birth parents privacy because “placing a child for adoption is an extremely sensitive and vulnerable choice. Having a closed adoption creates an opportunity for a stronger sense of privacy,” (“N. A. I. C. H.” 1) and it can also reduce fear because “some birth mothers are concerned about explaining their choice, and a closed adoption serves as a way to prevent them from a confrontation with a child placed for adoption” (“N. A. I. C. H.” 1). Closed adoption rids the birth parents of the responsibility they were not ready for in the first place and gives the child a chance at a better life with more responsible individuals. In some cases, closed adoption kills two birds with one stone by riding a birth parent of the embarrassment of not being prepared or financially stable for a child while giving the adoptive child a chance for a better life with an adoptive family that is looking for a child to give love and a good life…

Parents learn how to parent from their own parents. Each generation socializes children on what is expected in the home, how to behave in public, and how to treat other people. They show by example how valued the child is as he goes through his developmental stages and the crises of life. Not all parents are equipped with the knowledge of how a child develop. (Scholz 5)…

The first and biggest problem in today’s children is that they are getting spoiled beyond belief. When kids are spoiled the way they are being spoiled today it sets them up to fail in their future lives. Brenda Scottsdale a licensed psychologist and author for livestrong.com states, “Spoiling your children can be harmful to them both socially and developmentally. Since children who are spoiled often do not have to learn to solve their own problems, they can lack the life skills necessary to successfully negotiate the demands of adulthood.” When it comes time for these children to manage their money and make financial decisions in their own life they will struggle and rely on their parents to bail them out as they have done repeatedly in the past. In their adult years, lacking these skills makes these people lazy, angry, and unhappy with themselves. The second root cause in poorly acting children today is being neglected or lacking a positive role model at home. According to Hannah Richardson, a BBC education reporter, “When teachers were asked about the root cause of poor behaviour, three quarters blamed a lack of positive role models at home.” When children don’t have a structured upbringing with discipline in place, they struggle to make the right decisions in life that would keep them out of trouble. There was a study that suggested forty-two percent of students causing trouble today have been…

Since the beginning of time, there have been children born out of wedlock. When children are born out of wedlock it is still the responsibility of both parents to contribute to the needs of a child both ethically and legally. However that is not happening much of the time in today's world. When a child is not cared for by a parent, it "looks" bad on them to society. However since child support laws have been enacted, ethical reasons to take care of a child are now overpowered by legal reasons.…

Imagine being a single person with no capabilities of bearing a child. The single life eventually becomes boring, so you weigh the options and decide that you want to adopt a child. This will be a momentous moment in your life; you start shopping for the child’s new clothes, furniture, and prepare your home for this new addition. Now, imagine someone telling you that you should not be allowed to adopt just because of your relationship status. You underwent all of the same steps as a married couple would if they wanted to adopt, but your lack of a partner prohibits you from finally accomplishing your dream of having a child. This subject is widely debated in today’s society because of the amount of people that are now choosing to adopt children. Some people believe that singles should not be allowed to adopt because they do not have time as much time to dedicate to a child as a married couple, while others believe that singles are very capable of raising a child and that it may be easier for the child to just be raised by one parent. In the end, it is important to fully understand both sides of the argument in order to come to a solution that is beneficial for both parties, as well as the potential child.…

Women can have their own children. They will love them and care for them more than a stranger’s baby. I don’t see what’s wrong with a person getting too attached to their own child. I propose that every family should include a birthmother and can have their own children and not give it away. It’s reasonable to keep the rule of only two children per house unit to control the population. If somehow mothers don’t want their children, they can be adopted by another family that maybe has difficulties with having children. Everyone’s…
