Should Youth Athletes Be Paid?

Should you only reward youth athletes who earn their trophies? Participation trophies the easy way out. Participation trophies not only harm youth athletes, nut are a waste of money in youth organizations. Giving participation trophies decreases motivation. It is ok to give participation awards to 6-8 year old's, but not to older youth athletes. Participation trophies should not be given because it teaches kids that you can get an award for just showing up. According to the "Trophies for All" youth athletes are being rewarded with participation trophies.

Participation trophies are wasting money in youth organizations. Organizations spend thousands of dollars a year on trophies and metals, that the athletes don't even earn. A lot of
organizations don't have much money anyway, and they spend most of their funds on these participation awards. The organization could have spent their funds more wisely, and educated their coaches to be better motivators and teachers.

Participation trophies give youth athletes the easy way out. By giving out participation trophies, kids hardly have to put in any work or effort. If you are going to give out a trophy, have it mean something. The more trophies being given out, the less and less each one means. A trophy or metal is supposed to be the symbol of something earned, not something given by just showing up.

Athletes are putting in little to no effort, and they don't have to try. Because why try if you're going to get rewarded anyway. This is a big problem, because youth athletes should really work hard and earn the trophies.

It is ok to give out trophies to youth athletes. It is ok because athletes don't like to lose, and it gives the youth athletes something to look forward to, if they are going to win no matter what. Depending on the child, it gives the youth athlete more confidence. But, on the other hand, it will make the child think they are all that and the best, since they got rewarded for literally doing nothing.

Youth athletes are getting participation trophies for no reason, and this is not ok. These participation trophies are a waste of money to youth organizations. These trophies also show youth athletes the easy wat out, and how to get rewarded with no effort being put in. On the other hand, participation trophies can boost confidence.
