According to Strayer’s text, silver in the global commerce between the years 1450-1750 “went around the world and made the world go round”. My interpretation of this would be that the world and global commerce during this time depended on silver to thrive. Silver became the top reason for trade during this frame of time. The first link to be developed between America and Asia was brought about by the trade of silver. The Spanish empire grew during this time period due to the silver funding many parts of their society. Japan and China were also countries that grew substantially due to the trade and use of silver.

Europeans transformed earlier patterns of commerce because they were now trading at a global scale. They were becoming centers for international commerce, market exchange, and private ownerships. Another legacy would be the large populations of Africans and Europeans in the Americas today. The African American cultures were also a legacy that was left behind due to the slave trade. However, not all legacies left behind were positive ones. A negative legacy that was left behind from the slave trade would be the racial issues that still linger today. Segregation is not prominent in today’s society, but you see it in almost all communities and school systems without it being known as
