Similarities Between Abigail Williams And Elizabeth Proctor

These women each had their own role in what happened in Salem, their roles were very different but had big consequences, good or bad, in Salem. Elizabeth had the role of the loving (or not so loving) wife of John Proctor. Elizabeth being the Godly woman she is cannot bear the secret of John and Abigail’s affair, and could not ruin her husbands good name. And dear Abigail, she had the role of the ex-mistress of John Proctor. Abigail was the one to bring forth the mass hysteria that broke out in Salem. Abigail
Abigail should have not done the things she did, but the perseverance she had to move forward was a positive trait she could have used to do good but instead she used it to get what she wanted. There was something inside Abigail that caused her to have no emotions toward the people that died buy her “game” she was playing with the girls. Whether this “demon”, “evilness”, or “spirit” the caused her to commit these horrible acts, was defiantly not a positive trait for her, it was quite the opposite.
Both Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor loved John Proctor, but both the women’s love was immensely different from the others. Abigail’s love was a controlling love. Her possessiveness towards John was the downfall of the play. If Abigail had recognized that John Proctor did not love her, this whole thing would have not happened. And on the other hand Elizabeth’s love was a sacrificing love. She still loved him after he had cheated on her with Abigail, she was also willing to loose him to let still feel as if he was doing right in God’s
