In Ridley Scott’s film “Alien” the world is introduced to new slimy villain in this 1979 horror sci-fi film. That villain is no other than an alien predator whose instincts is to kill anything moving. The alien is stuck in a commercial spacecraft that has six human crew members and an android. After reading articles about science fiction films I really understood how unique and ahead of its time this film was. it doesn’t go the same route that other sci-fi films go through during the 1970s like the Star Wars (1977), 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), and Close encounter of the Third Kind (1977).…

The film industry can create an image for genders, race, class, sexuality, nationalities, and even eras through the roles and story lines of characters in a film. More recently, the film industry has begun to combine two different eras of films and even combine two different genres of film. In the film Cowboys and Aliens, the writers and directors are able to depict the different roles of genders and classes that existed in the West back in the 1870s, as well as incorporating modern day ideologies into the Western film. This is done using a diverse group of individuals coming from a vast range of classes, all meeting up and recognizing that they are all different, but need…

The 21st century is an era greatly influenced by "reality television”. If we’re not trying to keep up with the Kardashians, we’re watching Big Brother, Bachelors/Bachelorette, and Flavor of Love. This is a contrast from the 20th century, which was the era of the silver screen, the era of cinema. Rather than having little to no imagination like television today the films of this time era pushed the boundaries of our imagination and fulfilled and captured our wildest dreams. Two of the greatest movies of this time were A Trip to the Moon, directed by Georges Méliès (1902) and The Great Train Robbery directed by Edwin Porter (1903).…
