Families everywhere have roles, in Nigeria the roles are quite different. The Men in the past they were not allowed to provide for their families as rule in Nigeria. Women in the past had to farm and sell their stuff at markets just so they could clothe and feed their children and themselves. Women have some rights now but they still don’t have as many rights as men do now. In America women have rights just like men do such as voting. Women still have some things that they can’t do but it is not anywhere near to the amount that Nigerian women can’t do. Men are still to this day allowed to beat their wives as long as their is not permanent injury left on the woman's body. To men,women are seen as objects or possessions because they do not mean that much to men. Since men see women like this it means that the women are supposed to follow the rules just like the children in the house would have to follow all the rules that the man of the house makes. If the Women and/or children did not follow the rules this is where the beatings come in. In America if a man or anyone hits or beats another person it is called abuse and you are
