Similarities Between Hydrogen Tartrate And Sodium Bicarbonate
In observation, both Potassium hydrogen tartrate and Sodium bicarbonate looked identical and when touching both substances they felt the same. If the reaction by combining Potassium hydrogen tartrate, Sodium bicarbonate, and water produces an exothermic reaction, then when these three items are mixed together in a bag, one of the byproducts of this reaction will be that no heat reaction. The reason why it was exothermic because it When the 2 chemicals mixed together with water it made a sizzling noise and had bubbled like a carbonated drink and it produced gas as well.
By adding water to Sodium bicarbonate raises the temperature slightly. Sodium bicarbonate and water are exothermic therefore the water gets a little warmer. This is because

Summary: When heated, potassium chlorate decomposes, producing sufficient oxygen to ignite the sugar in the gummy bear. Since the oxidation of the sugar is very exothermic, sodium chlorate continues to decompose to oxygen, and the rate of combustion becomes very rapid.…

When combining one gummy bear, which is composed mostly of sucrose with molten potassium chloride, a violent reaction occurs. A surprising amount of energy us released by the reactant, and in process, the atom and molecule rapidly rearrange to form 3 products(CO2/H2O and KCl). This reaction is said to be products favor. A favoured product reaction is where almost all of the reactants, react to form products. In this case its sucrose and potassium chlorate react completely to form carbon dioxide, water and potassium chloride. This reaction is exothermic, releasing energy in the form of heat and light (we can see flame a bright light during the experiment). The energy released is also equal to the calorific content of the Gummy- Bear. This reaction…

Both of the activities rise in temperature, showing the increase of the heat. This is because the reactants in the exothermic reactions had a greater amount of heat content than the products, and therefore producing a negative enthalpy. Activity B however created an endothermic reaction, absorbing heat from its surroundings, due to its lack of energy. Ammonium Chloride and Water had shown to have more products than reactants; and this consequently produced a positive enthalpy change. As Activity A and B produced exothermic reactions, they are most suitable for heat and eat packs. This is due to the fact that exothermic reactions project heat to its surroundings, and therefore heating the…

All chemical reactions are processed through energy exchanges. Chemical reactions either absorb energy or release energy into their surroundings. In thermodynamics, endothermic reactions absorb energy where exothermic reactions release energy. In this experiment, we will be observing the chemical reactions that occur when a specific liquid is combined with a specific solid. We will measure the temperature of the liquid before the solid is added. Then we will measure the temperature of the liquid after the solid is added. We, then, will record the results, graph the temperature changes if any, and draw a conclusion whether the reaction is endothermic or exothermic reaction.…

    3. Based on my observations, I would say that there were five exothermic reactions and one that had neither an endo- or exothermic reaction. The five that did have exothermic reactions were the aluminum shot, the aluminum foil, the zinc, sodium carbonate, and the silver nitrate. These solutions all had a gain of at least 1oC and up to 8oC.…

In chemistry it is important to understand the difference between physical and chemical changes. The objective of this experiment was to perform tests using heat or chemical mediators and observe the results for any physical or chemical changes. Various materials were heated or mixed, monitored and results recorded. Numerous chemical and physical changes were noted during the procedure. It was possible to distinguish between physical and chemical changes using scientific observations.…

After examining seven additional substances, there were many pieces of evidence that help conclude that the mystery mixture ( number 8) is composed of citric acid and sodium bicarbonate the same as mixture six . At first when just observing the dry mixtures, it was hard to determine which ones were identical to the mystery mixture. In order to figure out which substances combined to make the mystery mixture, another process we followed was adding water to the substances and observing the reaction. Adding water to the mixtures resulted in a chemical reaction. The materials fizzed and bubbled due to the reaction.…

Although the English settled into both the Chesapeake and New England regions, they had formed into two completely opposite communities. Both regions came to America for different purposes. Whether the founders of this land was to make a profit, farm more land, or seek religious freedom, they did it to please their own intentions. There were many differences between the two regions, however two main places where they were opposites, were their lifestyle and their religion.…

In this experiment, I observed substances in their natural state, and recorded their apparent physical properties. I then tested the substances to determine how they react when their natural environments were altered. The pure substances were tested to see how they reacted with added Hydrochloric Acid, Dilute NaOH, heat, cold and hot water. I also was to determine if the substances were acidic or basic after being heated in water, by using litmus paper.…

The purpose of this experiment is to determine if the scientist can conclude in which temperature of water an Alka-Seltzer tablet has the fastest reaction time. The scientist will measure the time of reaction in temperature of water several times to come to an accurate conclusion. “With an Alka-Seltzer tablet, the CO2 is produced as result of a chemical reaction” (Spangler, 2010). The chemical reaction that occurs when the tablet interacts with a substance is known as effervescence. This process produces immediately creates bubbles or “fizzes” and is the product of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and citric acid reacting to form sodium citrate and carbon dioxide gas; which is the main reaction that is known by alka-seltzer tablets. (Chemistry of Effervescence, 2008).…

The category of race is a common idea that we engage with in our daily lives. From filling out health forms to discussing our own ethnicities in class, our society has accepted race as a universal and natural method of human distinction. Although racial categories have become a commonly accepted means of distinguishing various groups of people, it is actually a social construction based on arbitrary groupings that emerged from early European ideologies. At the start of the nineteenth century, Europe and America held an overwhelming belief in white superiority, and as a result, racial classifications emerged as a way to emphasize that belief. When taking a closer look at racial categories, one can see how they are ideologically unsound, and…
