Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet Act 3 Scene 2
Juliet expresses feelings of anguish, frustration and relief in her small speech in Act 3 Scene 2. Shakespeare portrays Juliet’s feeling in a number of different ways, through her language, different techniques and structure allowing u to infer quite a few things about Juliet without a reference to other parts of the play.
Juliet expresses the feeling of anguish, which is portrayed in numerous different ways. A quotation that supports this is, ‘villain cousin would have kill’d my husband’. ‘Villain’ is someone who commits evil deeds and is the main bad guy, whose actions influence the story. ‘Villain cousin’ suggests that she is willing to abandon her family and dismiss or insult them for Romeo. It suggests anger as she feels the need to insult her first cousin and how she doesn’t weep about Tybalt dying but is

She completely dismisses his death as she worries about Romeo’s wellbeing. There are not only feelings of anger at her own blood nearly killing her husband but disgust at being associated. It shows how important Romeo to her and she puts him above everyone else, even her own parents. ‘Mistaking offer up to joy’, this was said to the Nurse. ‘Mistaking…to joy’, it suggests that she mistakes a sad event for a joyful one. Anger is emphasised as she was made to believe that Romeo was dead but ‘Your tributary drops, belong to woe’ further emphasises her dismissal at Tybalt’s death and how the Nurse cries tears of sadness but Juliet now cries tears of happiness. Perhaps there is anger towards the nurse that Juliet had to waste tears over false information. It might also be interpreted as happiness towards her

However, in spite of the many differences, there are similarities between the two stories. Romeo and Juliet and “Teen Couple Executed by their Parents…for daring to fall in love,” both involve the deaths of the couples all happening at a young age, all of them dying before the age of 19 before any of their parents died. Throughout both stories a common factor is that the couples were forced to make adult decisions about their lives and love lives; while, the adults around them were making many poor decisions. Unlike many love stories where the strong, handsome male saves the damsel in distress, the female protagonists in both of these stories appeared to be stronger than their male counterparts. Maybe that is why when the time came, both mothers…

In Capulet’s house, Juliet longs for night to fall so that Romeo will come to her “untalked of and unseen”. Suddenly the Nurse rushes in with news of the fight between Romeo and Tybalt. But the Nurse is so distraught; she stumbles over the words, making it sound as if Romeo is dead. Juliet assumes Romeo has killed himself, and she resigns to die herself. The Nurse then begins to moan about Tybalt’s death, and Juliet briefly fears that both Romeo and Tybalt are dead. When the story is at last straight and Juliet understands that Romeo has killed Tybalt and been sentenced to exile, she curses nature that it should put “the spirit of a fiend” in Romeo’s “sweet flesh”. The Nurse echoes Juliet and curses Romeo’s name, but Juliet denounces her for criticizing her husband, and adds that she regrets faulting him herself. Juliet claims that Romeo’s banishment is worse than ten thousand slain Tybalt. She laments that she will die without a wedding night, a maiden-widow. The Nurse assures her, however, that she knows where Romeo is hiding, and will see to it that Romeo comes to her for their wedding night. Juliet gives the Nurse a ring to give to Romeo as a token of her love.…

The mood created in this parallel plot between Romeo and the Capulet servant is suspenseful based on Shakespeare’s use of tone for the characters and foreshadowing. This shall connect to the major plot by the fact from the prologue, which is, “Two star cross’d lovers”, Romeo could meet his star cross’d lover. As we get to the end of the conversation between Romeo and the servant, the servant implies, “if you not be of the house of Montagues, I pray, come and crush a cup of wine/Rest you merry!”. To paraphrase, the servant tells him that if he is not a Montague, he should come to the feast to drink a cup of wine. This implies that the servant invites Romeo to the feast(with no idea that he is a Montague and that he spoke to the ENEMY!). This…

Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare. In Act 4 Scene 5, the conflict of Juliet’s fake death promotes a theme of struggle with loss. During the scene, the Capulets have surprisingly discovered Juliet dead. The nurse is dramatized by what occurred and says, “O woe! O woful, woful, woful day!... That ever, ever, I did yet behold!” (4.5). Shakespeare utilizes repetition to characterize the nurse’s emotions of sadness and shock. The sadness comes from the discovery of Juliet’s death, and she is shocked because of how young Juliet died. The emotions of sadness and shock illustrate the theme of the struggle with loss, because the death of Juliet results with the nurse’s sadness over her lost, loved one. Lady Capulet discovered…

Romeo and Juliet is a play of love and hatred. In the centre of it all is Juliet, barely fourteen and still reliant on her wet nurse, yet willing to take her own life then to live without the one she loves. In the short four days, in which the play takes place, Juliet faces more than most in a lifetime. She is forced into marriage, she secretly marries an enemy of her house, her new husband kills her cousin and is exiled only allowing her one night of wedded bliss. She has to pretend to kill herself only to find her husband dead beside her, after which she takes her own life. During this emotional rollercoaster Juliet changes from an innocent, naïve thirteen-year-old to a defiant and independent young heroine. I have chosen Act 1 Scene 3, Act 3 Scene 5 (lines 69-242), and her soliloquy in Act 4 Scene 4 to compare, as they show different stages of Juliet's change in character.…
