The text defined ageism as a type of discrimination based solely on a person’s age. As a person’s age, pass what is considered the norm in each societies, the person is automatically put into an old bracket. Women compared to men are discriminated against the majority of the time based on their appearance. Also, there is a double standard when it comes to ageism between male and female. On the other hand, Sexism is defined as another type of discrimination on the basis of sex. It is basically the so-called gender roles that male and female are taught since they were born to follow. A person might be force to quit, retired or get fired based on their age, and especially if the person is too old to be view as sexy. Like the text example of a more skillful woman that dedicated one hundred percent to her job, but was laid off because the company wanted a younger hardly skilled beautiful woman that tantalized the guys. While sexism may be that one might not a get the promotion or the job because she is a women in a male dominated career.
