Simon Bolivar's Visit To Venezuela
Simon Bolivar was one of South America’s greatest generals and political leaders. Whose victories over the Spanish empire led to the independence of Bolivia, Panamá, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru. Simon was born on July 25, 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela. His parents past away when he was but a child, only 9 years old. He then moved to Spain at the age of 9 years old, where he was raised by his nanny Hipolita and his tutor Simon Rodriguez. As for his education, he was homeschooled by a fair amount of tutors who gave young Simon ideas on liberty and freethinking.

Bolivar did have a wife. His wife was María Teresa del Toro y Alayza, and he met, and married her in Spain. Simon Bolivar married María Teresa del Toro y Alayza in 1802. Upon the young couple taking a visit to Venezuela in 1803, Maria Teresa had fallen in ill. She then died of yellow fever that year. Gran Colombia also had parts of present day Brazil and Peru. Bolivar then went on to fully liberate Peru, and was then made dictator of said country.

He struggled to keep control of the new state of Gran Colombia. So he appointed himself as dictator as a temporary thing in order to save the republic. Simon resigned his presidency in 1830, after failing to re-establish his authority.

Bolivar made plans to sail to Europe and live the rest of his life there in peace and solitude. But he later died at the age of 47 on December 17th, because of struggles with possibly tuberculosis. Simon Bolivar is now known as the George Washington of of South America, because he quite literally was just that.
