Throughout the whole movie the communication was maintained in certain ways, Gandalf always had hope on Bilbo because he knew him since a young age. As mention before about the mark on Bilbo’s door; Gandalf set it there because he needed to have the conference with the dwarves about the adventure. This communication was maintained by all the dwarves showing at Bilbo’s front door, then making a big feast leaving Bilbo with scrapes of food. Once everyone was done, Thorin the main Dwarf showed up late explaining what he had offered to the hobbit and the rest that will join the journey. When Bilbo and Gollum where playing riddles it was getting tougher and tougher for the hobbit to win and find the way out from the cave. He knew that only one question could make him winner, the question was “What I’ve got in my pocket.” Therefore the slimy creature gave up, and turned into a ferocious…

And he has lots books, reading lots of stories about legends. He also serves all his food to barbaric dwarves so they can leave soon. He just wants to be alone again, so that is what fuels him to complete the mission.…

The next two steps in telling if “The Hobbit” is a quest, was told if they had a place to go and stated reason to go there. The 13 dwarves visit Bilbo unexpectedly to see if he will travel with them to the Misty Mountain. The misty mountains are the original home of the dwarfs, they lived there until a dragon by the name of Smaug stole all their treasure. The stated reason to go on the quest is to retrieve the stolen treasure from Smaug, with the help of Thor's map, that not even the dragon knows about. However, they will face many challenges along the way.…

Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates is a letter written to the author’s son revealing his own stories and also telling his son of the world that they live in. He tells him how it felt being black in the United States and the realities that came with it. Furthermore, he explains to his young son lessons that will hopefully open his eyes to the world’s harsh reality, Coates’ tells his son that “racist violence has been woven into American culture (Coates).” This violence has been following them since the day they were born and they have been running from it ever since. Gunnar Kaufman from the book The White Boy Shuffle, by Paul Beatty also encounters this violence after being mostly left alone at his previous home. Both of these men…

“Soon the goblins had a ring of smoke and flame all round the dwarves, a ring which they kept from spreading outwards; but it closed slowly until the running fire was licking the fuel piled under the trees. Smoke was in Bilbo’s eyes, he could feel the heat of the flames( even though he was so high up in the trees); and through the reek he could see the goblins dancing round and round in a circle like people round a midsummer bonfire. Outside the ring of dancing warriors stood the wolves at a respectful distance watching and waiting to devour the first person that dropped dead out of the treetops. Bilbo could hear the goblins beginning a horrible song, and with that the flames were under Gandalf the wizards tree. In a moment it caught the others and went up like a rocket, when it was just beneath Bilbo’s, he closed his eyes, ready to die when...” As it can be seen Biblo and company were in many tight spots throughout this adventure, and he could not have done it all on his own. That is where Bilbo had to use the three themes of luck, courage and good sense to overcome evil and stay alive.…

Its first period and I’m not quite awake yet. It’s too early for conversation and too early to think. As my classroom fills up all the girls greet me because we all know each other in this class. We've become like a little family of crazy giggling girls, and I’m like the Soprano I section leader here in the Women’s Honor Choir as well as the only senior. The bell rings and we get to singing, and something magical happens- well, “magical” probably wasn't the best word to use since there wasn't any sorcery at work here. The better word would be something like “neurological”. Yes, something neurological happens and it’s quite simple really- I wake up. Not only do I wake…

The King's arrival is announced not with the usual flourish of trumpets, but with "Hoboys," which are the ancestors of our mournful-sounding oboes. Also, the King's followers and servants are carrying torches, to indicate that the sun is down. Both the sound of the oboes and the darkness of the hour remind us that the King will never again see the light of day.…

Choral Singers- This is a subculture that I have been a part of for the majority of my life. From being in the Springfield Showstoppers show choir at the age of 9 to being in the Illinois Music Education Association's All State Chorus, I have always felt like I belonged in this subculture. Everything about performing, whether that be for fun or for competition, I love. There are quite a few different style groups that I have been a part of, my favorite being Madrigals (Renaissance and Baroque style music). This would be a good subculture for me to write about because it's been such a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.…

Version A is the only one explicitly featuring an elf as well as a recurring refrain, the latter of which makes it very balladic. In every verse, the second line is “Aye as the gowans grow gay” and the fourth line “The first morning in may” (5). A cue modern reader may overlook is this very specific date. Henderson and Cowan observed in their study of Child ballads featuring elves and fairies, that dates are almost always specified when a mortal is taken away by such…

    1) Using the concepts given by psychologists and the so called ‘Hierarchy of Needs’ by A. Maslow is it possible to distinguish different type of needs that makes people’s wellbeing. Apart from the basic ones, that for me can be identified as real need, like the physiologic and safety there are higher needs that we can identify as social wants. These wants can be satisfied with the interaction with other people and with social activities. Karaoke is an activity that can satisfy three different kinds of needs: friendship or belongingness, esteem and self-actualization. All of these can be identified as more emotionally-based and social activities, starting from these point so it is possible to identify other activities that can satisfy these needs. The closest is playing sports, group videogames, acting on a stage or every activity that involves staying with other people, having a challenge on who is better than the other and overcome fear to do something or also, if we consider the ones that do ‘hitokara’, activities in which is it possible to unburden and relax alone, in this way only the latter two needs are satisfied. Although is it possible to identify many other activities that can satisfy these wants, in my opinion it is not possible to find a substitute because karaoke singing is really specific activity, done during certain moments and conditions and this is the reason why it has spread so much all around the world.…
