Single Sex Schools
Why code schools are better than single sex schools
Would you rather go to a code school or single sex school? Why? I would rather go to a code schools because when you get out in the workforce you already know how to work with the opposite sex and how to talk to them. Although single sex schools sound like a good idea they're not in a code school you get to work, learn communication skills and sexism.
When you go into the workforce you already are used to working with the opposite sex. When it's time to work they won't be scared or don't know what to do because they get that experience in school. When you go to a code school you grow up with them and know how to work. If you go to a single sex school you don’t get that experience and it

In fourth article, the author Galen Sherwin who is a senior staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union Women’s Rights Project disagree with the idea of single-sex school. He thinks sex segregation is not the cure, it doesn't make education better. It even may have bad influences to the society. Education should stay where they…

They want the girls to be focus on them an not they work.“In recent years, single-sex classes in public schools have become increasingly popular as a low-cost remedy for two issues that plague our country's public school system: the efforts to encourage girls' ambitions in traditionally "masculine" arenas such as science, technology, engineering and math, and to address the "boy crisis" in schools, the chronic underachievement of boys, especially in traditionally "feminine" subjects such as English the girls be more focus on the…

It is proven that students in single-sex schools feel less pressure than their coeducational counterparts. This decrease in pressure results in many advantages for both males and females. Without the distraction of impressing females, males are less competitive and more cooperative. In addition, girls are more willing to speak in public, and exhibit higher levels of confidence and self-esteem. With this decrease in pressure, students will enjoy the learning environment more. This results in an increased attendance frequency because students look forward to school, rather than dreading to attend. Single sex education increases opportunities for leadership as well. In a female single sex environment, girls hold leadership positions that they might not have the opportunity to hold in a coeducational environment. Furthermore, males may be less inhibited to get involved and assume leadership roles in the absence of females. Another benefit of single-sex education is the ability to tailor the environment towards either males or females. This is advantageous because some studies indicate that females learn better in warmer temperature. While males tend to perform better in cooler environments. If this is true, then even the temperature of a single-sex classroom can be set to optimize the learning of either male of female students. The author also explains the opposition to single-sex…

All students will eventually live and work side by side with the opposite gender, so, why work away from them in school? Those in single gender schools would have a difficult time transitioning into a working environment with the opposite gender. They didn't have opportunities in school to develop social skills and relationships. The students also have a limited amount opportunities to work together cooperatively and coexist successfully with the opposite gender. Having the ability to communicate with the opposite gender will be important in the future. Next, boys who are friends with girls tend to be more comfortable around women in the future. If men are more comfortable around girls than they tend to believe more in women's rights and equality. If we have more men who believe in equal rights for everyone than there could be a lot changes, like changing the wage gap. According to research by the Institute of Education in London, men who went to single gender schools are not only more likely to get a divorce but, more likely to fall into depression. Women's marriages were not affected by the school they went to. Men are going to be more likely to fall into depression because of the stress of finding a happy life. It is very clear that single gender schools are a nuisance in the future of boys. Now last but not least, people need to teach our generation how to respect others for the…

While I am in a class with both genders there is a lot of dating in the class. The boy would try to show off to a certain girl to only find himself making a foolish look or weird pose. The girl, on the other hand would stare off at that boy until someone noticed her or he saw her. Trust me his look would be very grossed out. So the common kid would be hurt if we were in a mixed gendered school.…

In conclusion, I believe the greatest benefit to gender-segregated classrooms appears to be the subsequent effect on behavior and self-esteem. Across the board, girls showed in improved rate of self esteem and confidence while boys displayed greater behavioral skills and discipline. This in itself would be cause enough to implement more single-sex classrooms in public schools.…

Yet another pro to attending a same-sex school is a more equalized academic and extra curricular playing field. Many scientific studies have determined that males and females think and learn very differently, so wouldn’t it make sense to separate the two genders when it comes to higher education? Imagine a classroom full of like-minded students who think and learn both on a similar mental and biological level. Classroom discussions can reach new heights, new ideas could be invented, and the possibilities beyond class are endless!…

Coed schools do not have the same advantages like single-sex schools. For Example: "Boys and girls differ in the way they act, how they learn, and their interests and abilities. They need an educational environment tailored to meet their unique needs. In general, boys are more physically active, assertive and comfortable learning in a more chaotic environment than girls. Girls are able to sit still and prefer a quiet, focused and orderly classroom. In single-sex schools, the curriculum and course offerings provide advanced work in areas of the children 's greatest interests and natural abilities (e.g., the outdated thinking that math and science are for boys, humanities and the…

Some high schools in the United States are considering creating separate classrooms to educate the boys and the girls. Many parents and professionals have their own opinions on this topic; but, the real question is if boys and girls would benefit from these separate classrooms. The cons of this topic outnumber the pros in many different ways. Many believe that the idea is undecided whether it is sexist by separating the two genders. On the other hand, students won’t have as many distractions while trying to learn their basic life skills. Another con of separating the students would be, when it comes to becoming adults, students won’t ever be separated in the real world in their job.…

A student in his/her sex-segregated school will probably have a better work ethic and better marks during that time but what happens after they start working with the opposite sex again? If statistics are correct, their work ethic will decline.…

According to Robert Kennedy (2011), “Boys tend to soften their competitive edge and become more collaborative in a single sex setting. They can just be boys and not worry about what the girls might think. Boys enjoying poetry and playing in an orchestra as opposed to a marching band are the kind of thing you will see in a boys' school. Girls drop their shyness and begin to take risks in a single sex setting. They become more competitive. They embrace sports like field hockey and soccer with gusto without worrying about appearing like tom boys.” So children in single gender schools can be themselves, and it can provide them a comfortable atmosphere to study. It is not only good for their study but also good for their personality development.…
