Some of those procedures were having pencil sharpened before our lesson, having material ready along with anchor charts ready and visible in order to save time and have my lesson flow smoothly. I also provided students with time management, for example, I would let them know they had a minute left to finish filling out one of their columns in their KWL chart. I also counted down to grab students attention such as a countdown from 10 seconds or 5 seconds. I also tried using the clap your hands once if you can hear me strategy, but that only seemed to work at the beginning not so much towards the end. Lastly, I also implemented the use of their “color behavior cards” for when students decided not follow directions.
The observable outcomes of my students learning were visible via their KWL charts, I used the “L column of my KWL chart to assess what my students learned from the article we read in class regarding Sir Francis Drake. I wanted to see their “L” column of their chart completely full since the article provided them with lots of new information regarding Sir Francis Drake.
