LA Final Draft:Skateboarding Skateboarding is a great sport to do in your spare time as well as professionally. Skateboarding is becoming a bigger and bigger sport every day. Skateboarding is evolving more each day and not just the skateboards are evolving, but the tricks and the parks are also.
Skateboarding has been going on for a while, but just like everything else it had to start somehow. In the late 1950’s a group of bored Californian surfers put a pair of roller skate wheels on a surfboard and created what we consider the first skateboard. The skateboard became a pretty cool thing for

The first person is Tony Hawk. Whether you are a skateboard fan or not, you should at least know who Tony Hawk is. Tony Hawk is also one of the most popular athletes in the world. For example Tony Hawk invented the 900. Tony Hawk landed this trick in 1999 at the X-Games. After ten failed attempts he finally landed it on the eleventh try. This trick included a ollie 540, kickflip 540, and varil 720. One of the next great skateboarders is Nyjah Huston. Nyjah Huston is considered the overall champion in street league. He has won street league in the following years: 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016. He is the highest paid skateboarder in the world, making 6 million dollars a year. A hint to his success is he started skateboarding at age 9 then he became a professional skateboarder at age 15. The last thing I will say about Nyjah Huston is that he interacts with his community. I think this is a great thing to do because he dose things from donating money to skating with the locals. And the final skateboarder we will be hearing about today will be the Cody McEntire. Cody McEntire has only entered one SLS competition and although he did not win it his first year in SLS he still came very close. Another cool thing about Cody McEntire is that he actually came from Belton, Texas. He is the first skateboarder I know that has came anywhere near Belton, Texas. Also cody McEntire is 29 years old which is pretty old to be a Street League Skater. Cody McEntire is also sponsored by Blind, RDS, Silver, FKD, Filmbot, OC Ramps, Was Watchers, and Wreck

    Skateboarding Is an Art

People who don’t skateboard have no idea what I’m about to describe, but if you have a passion for skateboarding like I you will totally understand. Skateboarding is not a sport; we don’t have any couches telling us what we can and can’t do. We can literally do whatever we want on a skateboard, it is complete creativity and freedom. Skateboarding is an Art, a Lifestyle, a way to live. So pretty much we are artists selecting what spots we want to share our art on. Just like art there are unlimited amount of styles people can come up with. Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Faust all are artists who create art and showcase them in many different ways. Van Gogh used a Style of paint, Pollock used a Style of Splatter, and Faust used a Style of calligraffiti. Even though all of these people are artists that have the same intentions, they all have a completely authentic style as to what they do and create. People think skateboarders just destroy property and disrespect security guards/police but they are not thinking outside the box and looking at the world like we do. Skateboarders have a different eye for everything they see in this world. For example you might see a pole sticking out of the ground that looks extremely dangerous. But we skaters would call that a pole jam, and our minds would open up and think about all the possibility’s and tricks that can be done on this obscure object. Just like Art, Skateboarding takes time and patience. You can’t just wake up one day and be like “Hey I’m going to land a 900 on a Vert Ramp today” but hey you never know. But most likely you won’t be able to stomp that out in a couple of tries. But in Reality learning to spin a 900 would take years to practice. Tony Hawk was the 1st person to ever land it, and it took him years to completely master. Skateboarding is all about building your craft and then…
