Changing a Baby’s nappy
Organization of the task.
I washed and dried my hands, tithed my hair. Then I prepared the area where to change baby’s nappy. I was using changing table, so I put on a changing mat and paper. If I wouldn’t be using changing table I would lay a blanket, towel or changing mat on the floor or bed.
Then I gathered everything I will need-
Gloves.
A clean nappy.
Something to clean baby’s bottom like a baby wipe (moist cotton wool or soft flannel).
Barrier cream (or powder).
Something to put the dirty nappy in such as a bin (or plastic bag).
Implementation of the task.
I prepared the table and got all equipment.
I washed my hands.
I disinfected the changing mat and washed my hands again then put on the glows.
I laid the baby down on the changing mat.
I took of baby’s trousers.
I opened up a new clean diaper and placed the back half under baby. The top of the back half should come up to baby’s waist.
I unfastened the tabs on the dirty nappy. To prevent them from sticking to baby I folded them over.
I pulled down the front of the dirty nappy.
There wasn’t a poop, but if there was poop in the nappy, I would use front half of the nappy to wipe the bulk of it off baby’s bottom.
I folded the dirty nappy in half under baby, clean side up. To do this I lifted baby’s bottom of the table by grasping both ankles with one hand and gently lifting upwards.
I cleaned baby’s front with baby wipe and let the baby’s skin air dry for a few moments.
I applied rash cream (or powder).
I removed the dirty nappy and set it aside, out of baby’s reach.
I tidied the clean nappy under baby’s bottom, pulled the front half of the clean dipper up to baby’s tummy.
I checked if the dipper between baby’s legs is spread as wide as seems comfortable.
I fastened the nappy at both sides with the tabs.
Then I dresses baby and put it in a safe place (play room with other adult).
I fold up the dirty

At birth a baby will lay down on their backs (supine) with their head to one side. When they are placed on their fronts they also put their head to one side but tuck their knees up under their abdomen and their buttocks humped up. Usually a new born would hold their hands tightly closed but the hands may open spontaneously during feeding or when the back of the hand is stroked, they will often hold their thumbs tucked under their fingers.…

    Cloth vs Diapers

Diapers have been used by humans throughout history. But, the word diaper did not originally refer to its use. Instead, the term originally referred to a type of cloth with a pattern of small repeated geometric shapes. The first diapers were made of a special type of soft cloth cut in geometric shapes. The method of creating geometric shapes in cloth was called diapering, but it eventually gave the name of the cloth used in making diapers back in 1590s in England. Diaper is used on children who are not yet toilet trained to prevent bed-wetting and to keep babies’ skin clean and dry. While it was originally made of cloth material, several variations and improvements were made on the diaper resulting in the creation of disposable diaper. Unlike cloth diapers which can be washed and reused multiple times, disposable diapers are thrown away after use (Leverich). The boom of the disposable diaper industry suggests that it is more preferred by parents that its cloth counterpart. Parents choose what they think is best for their baby. Hence, while the use of disposable diaper has become a trend, it actually has a number of disadvantages that may want parents to reconsider using cloth diapers.…

    b. Why you may ask? It has Talc in it. Talc is closely related to the potent carcinogen asbestos. Talc particles have been shown to cause tumors in the ovaries and lungs of cancer victims. For the last 30 years, scientists have closely scrutinized talc particles and found dangerous similarities to asbestos. Responding to this evidence in 1973, the FDA drafted a resolution that would limit the amount of asbestos-like fibers in cosmetic grade talc. However, no ruling has ever been made and today, cosmetic grade talc remains non-regulated by the federal government. Talc is used on babies because it…

The Process of Changing a Newborns Diaper a You should not take lightly the changing of a diaper. For it to be done correctly, you need to take the time and do the proper steps. If not done so, your baby could end up with a diaper rash and more seriously, an infection. A clean diapered baby is a happy baby. To start, you need to know the weight of the newborn. With this, you will be able to find which size diapers will be appropriate. Not all newborns wear newborn diapers. You will also need to decide on which brand diaper you will want to use. There are several brands to choose. The name brands are nice because they absorb more and children are less likely to get rashes. Priced less and packaged in greater quantity are generic brands. However, they are less absorbent, which results in frequent changing and greater chance for diaper rash. You will also need a diaper wipes and powder. Again, there are name brand and generic. You will have to make the decision based on, which is better for you and your newborns needs. After you choose the size and brand you need to set up the area in which you will be changing the newborn. It should be soft yet washable. Sometimes things can get a little messy and you will want to be able to disinfect. Put all these supplies at easy access to you where you will be changing the newborn. Make sure supplies are at the foot of the changing area. This will keep little hands from reaching them. All the cellophane should be off the packages. Take the diapers out of the packaging and stack them at a hand's reach. You should not have to walk away as soon as you start changing the baby. You are ready to change. Start by placing the baby on the changing surface with its head at appropriate end. Undress the baby from waist down. There are tabs on the front of the diaper, lift up on the corners of them and the diaper will be unsecured. You need to check if the baby has had a bowel movement. To do this, just pull diaper carefully down between the…
