Skrull Cover Description
I still remember my first time looking at a Skrull made by Paul Kirby. His unusual anatomy, accompanied by a dazed and evil look, brought me back in time, making me even more willing to create a realistic portray that could stay true to that imagery. This cover reminds me of a funny story. During the 2009 New York Comic Con, while roaming the Big Apple, I had started noticing hundreds of Skrull out on the streets. To tell the truth, they were just normal people wearing the image on my cover as a mask, either way, it meant that my cover had worked perfectly for Marvel's promotional

    1940 Halo Hat

I’ve been waiting to show you this project for a long time and I finally got my hair to work out long enough (thanks to a sideways clipped bang extension) to take a decent photo of my finished hat (above) so that I could complete the post. I’m not entirely sure what you would call this style of hat exactly. I know that it resembles a “halo hat”, but a true halo hat has a band almost like a huge beret, so that’s not it. I’m going to go with “1940’s large brim hat”. I became inspired to try this out when I was at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago and saw a hat partially sticking out from under one of the racks. It was covered in dust and looked like it had been kicked all around the store before it ran and hid under some hanging sweaters.…

Immediately upon walking through the elegant double doors, the sweet aroma of butter envelopes the air around me causing me to rapidly salivate. The smell of nacho cheese accompanies the butter fragrance and I quickly begin to picture the many tasty treats behind the square concession area that is located in front of me. Candy galore is perfectly aligned behind the glass case further enticing my taste buds. A perfect temperature keeps me comfortable and makes me wish my home's temperature could be this perfect. One well groomed attendant generously overfills a striped bag with freshly popped popcorn and delicately hands it to a young boy standing next to his mother. Colorful posters line the walls around me, showing a glimpse into what lies behind the doors located down the hallways. The softness of the bench I am sitting on causes me to wonder if I am perched upon a cloud. Intermittent bursts of laughter can be heard coming from down the long hallways as well as in the lobby creating an atmosphere of endless fun. Smiling faces of children, teenagers, and adults quickly pass by me and I can hear the attendant quickly tear their perforated tickets as he happily says, "To the left, third door on your right."…

The inside of the mask shows a man sitting with his legs bent in front of him while his arms are open and stretched to his sides. His facial features consist of sharp cheekbones, a wide triangular nose, a goat-t, a thin mustache, and thick dark eyebrows. The subject's facial hair is made up of black pigment. His eyes are peering up and his thick red lips are in a whistling position with a little tube in its mouth with three strings attached to it- one on both sides and one on the bottom. The strings on his left and right attach from his mouth to his arms. The bottom string attaches to the middle of his legs, just below the knees. It looks as though there is a harness or support cushion of some sort around the figure's neck but this is not clear. Perhaps it functions as a filler so there is not a lot of empty space (www.freespiritgallery.ca).…

The new book cover that I designed has a colorful carrousel in the center and New York City in the background. I these two images give a great explanation of the book and have true meaning to it. In one quote Holden says,"I was trying to feel some kind of a good-by . . . I don't care if it's a sad good-by or a bad good-by, but when I leave a place I like to know I'm leaving it. If you don't, you feel even worse.” This is how New York City is portrayed as. It’s the big city everyone knows about and when you leave there you know you are leaving. The city has a huge impact on you. You can that quote to the big city. Another quote that Holden says is, "People never notice anything.” It’s straightforward what Holden says here. No one ever notices the details in life. Just as most people don’t notice things in the big city. It is so vast and you feel like a tiny ant in it. People go through out the day walking through the city, but they never really notice anything that’s going on. I think what he means is no one is open minded anymore.…

    I. Judging a book by the cover and a person by his or her outward appearance is a being judgmental without knowing what the content of the book is and without analyzing the difference of inside and the outward appearance of a person.
