Slavery To The West Was The Cause Of The Civil War

Civil War: a war between citizens of the same country. This was the end result of the enlargement and expansion of slavery throughout the United States of America. Back in the mid-1800’s, the United States was expanding fast towards the west but there were large decisions to be made: What states should be slave states? How can we balance out everything? Should we expand slavery to the north? The controversy all was because of a difference of perspective. The southern farmer is bound to favor slavery more than the average city worker in the north. The one idea that was not a question was if the expansion of slavery to the west was the cause of the Civil War. In 1856, the Free Soiler Cartoon was created. It showed a man having things shoved down his throat except it was symbolizing how places like Kansas or Cuba were shoving slavery down the throat of free soilers who were on the side with anti-slavery. When Kansas became a state, there was a large dispute about slavery. They were not sure whether to be a pro-slavery
Mcfarland regarding his opinion about slaveholders. He seems to be a very religious man except he does not respect the ministers around him because of they all own slaves. He claims that since the ministers are torturing the souls of innocent people who have the same rights as anyone else that he cannot follow them. So just because some people are pro-slavery, they are losing the respect of some people. Brown makes a good point that since they go against his beliefs that he can no longer follow them. This is a little representation of the United States. The United States had basically been divided into two parts; Slave states and no slave states. But people in the north are starting to want nothing to do with the people in the south because their beliefs are different so the country was divided into two.
