Don’t we hate when we want to sleep and we can’t? Well if you suffer of this just like me you have sleep deprivation, but what sleep deprivation means? To understand this I will cite two sources, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine sleep deprivations means “Sleep deprivation occurs when an individual fails to get enough sleep”, and according to Paula Alhola and Päivi Polo-Kantola sleep deprivation is “the condition of not having enough sleep”. Both definitions are very similar but these two sources even when they are talking about the same topic, the topic are expressed in a different way. Causes, effects and coping strategies are three point of similarity between these two sources. Both sources talk about sleep deprivation but in a different way, through this paper I will explain their three similarities as well as they differences. Both sources present evidence that they are true, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine article clearly is a true article only because of the organization and the Paula Alhola and Päivi Polo-Kantola at the bottom of the page have a huge reference page list, also this source present a detailed page of all the experiments done through the whole investigation. As I said in my thesis statement causes, effects and coping strategies are three points of similarities between the two sources. Both sources give you a list of main causes such as voluntary behavior, personal obligations, work hours, and medical problems by telling some of them, also the effects are both explained and in a list either in mood, performance, or health they have every symptom that could be presented in a sleep deprivation case, and finally they present the coping strategies, both give you a list of method in how to evade sleep deprivation or if you suffer of sleep deprivation what could you do to end with it, they also tell you which gender is more affected by this condition.
