Abstract
The purpose of this study is to show how smartphones have become one of the greatest technological innovations in communicating amongst people. These handheld devices are so important to the lives of many that if lost, it could be very detrimental to one’s life. Smartphones play a significant role in technology and communication markets around the world. The business for marketing and selling smartphones is increasing as well as profits.
Smartphones
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the worldwide smartphone market reached a milestone by shipping one billion units in a single year. The market of smartphones is growing rapidly throughout the world. The market for smart-phones is expected to grow so quickly in part because they are changing (The Economist 2009). People are demanding information to be processed and shared at accelerated speeds without restrictions. What better way to accomplish this task than to have a smartphone in your hand.
Today, people are looking for smart phones that are capable of accomplishing the same things as they could accomplish on a home computer. Some key things that help push the sale of the phones are larger screens, faster operating systems, and cost. Cheap devices are not the usually the attractive segment, however, IDC is showing that it is the driving market for the volume of sales. Countries like China and India are leading the market in sells of smartphones bringing a solid computing experience to the hands of many people throughout the world.
Not long ago, making a phone call was very simple as receiving a call. The only security you really had to worry about was if someone had picked up in the other room to listen in (Rose 2011).
